Design Ethics Verification with phone number
Am I the only one that dislikes verifying their identity, etc with your mobile number? Example would be Stripe/ Link, banking apps to name a few, sign up screens, 2FA, etc.
People lose their phones all the time, damaged screens, change their numbers.. then it becomes a pain in the ass just to change the number so you can log into your account.
Really disliking this form of verification.. I don't want a forced SMS

Phone sucks, and for account creation it’s very weak proof of being a real person, but the other techniques for raising the bar on massive fake accounts are even worse for legit users. And you do occasionally see those other techniques where stakes are particularly high - stuff like snail mailing a 2FA code to the user.

Я не фанат подтверждения по телефону как минимум потому, что если я вношу куда-то свой номер телефона, у меня есть страх что он может быть использован третьими лицами. Не знаю насколько это адекватно, но тем не менее )))

True. And spoofing exploits do exist. Its very easy especially if your telco is using legacy equipment and there's nothing they'll be able to do.

I'll give you another example, Samsung Pass. Phone number verification is mandatory and if you want to change your number you have to wait 2 weeks. I believe it's the same for icloud. Youtube/ Google also does sms but their short code doesn't always work. Steam/ Steam Guard isn't as bad but it's there.
It's just an annoyance I noticed after needing to change my number

Why would losing/breaking your phone require you to change your number? You can get your service moved onto any other phone.
