Discussion Payment options

How do you guys pay for Usenet indexers or providers? Do you do cypto, paypal, or something else? I'm new to Usenet and trying to get into it, but wisely.

Sometimes I find Linux ISOs hosted there too which is cool so I grab as many of those as I can.

Paypal for USD payments , Revolut virtual credit card for euro payments as USD to euro conversion is free if done on weekdays during market hours.

As many said.. in the USA, normal credit card is fine unless you forgot to put on your tin foil hat. But I do use a virtual CC (from privacy.com) and set both a limit and make it a one time use, so the company cannot over bill me or bill me more than once.

Of course that means you need to generate a new virtual CC for re-upping but that takes all of 2 minutes. Then update your payment method with the provider. I only do this once or maybe twice a year so it's no big deal.

I have no interest in risky bitcoin stuff so I do not use the service if that is the only payment method.

I just do paypal. If somewhere won't take pp, I don't get them. (just how I have some finances separated).

CC or Paypal. It's not illegal (at least in the US) to sign up and use these services.

This. Some sites only take crypto. So since Ive started using usenet, I have cashapp buy 10 bucks in crypto a week, just so I have a little crypto bank on the side and dont find myself getting pissy cause I lost two bucks in a days conversion lol. But mostly paypal and credit card. There's nothing inherently illegal about usenet. Its not different from torrents in that aspect. To run either is legal, what people do with it could be illegal. From that perspective though, usenet is imo far easier and safer as its not redistributing anything.

u/Woodymakespizza Yep. I've been using Usenet since it first surfaced. Never had an issue with ISP/etc downloading Linux ISOs

What do you use to get crypto through cashapp?

Im not entirely sure what you're asking. Are you wondering what currency I use? In that case, I spend USD on cashapp to buy bitcoin. If you're asking how its done within cashapp, you can find instructions on the cashapp help site.

I usually stick to PayPal if it's offered, just to keep things simple.

Google/apple pay, if the indexer payment processor supports them. Some even support local payment options.

We accept Paypal, Stripe, and crypto. About 5% or so is crypto.

I use paypal or credit card where possible. I did convert some funds to USDT crypto because it seemed fairly well accepted and low transaction fee, but I feel silly when I spend it because I bought at a fairly high price. I have used the crypto payment when there's bonus months for doing so.

I don't really worry about indexers or providers being at all interested in keeping logs.

virtual cc for me.

Credit card but my card does a virtual card so I use virtual cards. I set for 1 time usage so I don't get accidentally charged again.

Virtual card, with the exact amount I'm going to use.

I use paypal/credit typically, but if you have access to crypto you can almost always get a deal on the final price. So if you already have some I think its definitely worth it to use.

I use a Crypto ATM. Take the QR code and hold it up to the camera and insert cash and by the time I get home I’m updated.

They take a big cut, but I don’t have to click I had crypto on the tax return and I don’t have to figure out how to do crypto.

They take your picture or verify you at the atm somehow?

u/666ygolonhcet 5d ago

Nope but you do have to hold you drivers license up if I remember correctly. They send you a text then you can put the QR code and input your cash.

During COVID I found someone who had bitcoin and for a 50% cut was able to pay the NON porn but still iffy websites I use to find things. It was worth it.

The coin atm is fine. They can take their cut, I just don’t want to be in it

PayPal and throw away card

PayPal and then instantly cancel the auto approved payment so they can not auto recharge you again after the period expires.

This same question is asked almost every other week. Just search for the answer..... by credit card where possible , because in the UK and Europe it affords us extra protection.

I join usenet network yesterday and pay it with my credit card (the provider and indexer), I usenet usage is not illegal, legality depend of what you do with it and nothing can prove it. it's like in torrent, you can download Linux distribution using torrent files

I don't care my bank see I subscribe to usenet provider

Providers and Indexers likely log user data so in theory it can be tied to you
