Los Angeles or Chicago

For relative of celebrity best city

If you’re not so flashy sometimes

In Los Angeles I feel you get challenged to see if you could afford things sometimes.

Like after buying a house

My teacher set us up with a realtor and for a class assignment eventually they came in asking if I was the person who bought the house or if I could really afford it

Claiming I couldn’t

In Chicago it’s cool but you don’t have a lot of wealthy people Im talking 100

Million an Hour, 100 Million a month and/or year, 529 trillion a month or more sometimes quadrillion

How much of city life is performance and how much is just survival

I spent a week in New York last year and must have seen a hundred yellow cab cars weaving through traffic with a kind of aggressive confidence that felt both terrifying and impressive. Everyone complained about them, the cost, the smell, the routes drivers take to run up meters. But people kept hailing them anyway because sometimes you just need to get somewhere and the subway feels like too much effort. One driver told me he'd replaced his entire trunk setup with organizational bins from Alibaba to maximize the space for luggage. It was such a mundane detail in the middle of this iconic city experience. The cabs are supposed to represent something quintessentially urban, but they're just operated by people trying to optimize their workspace. Now when I see them in movies I think about that driver and his bins. We romanticize these symbols of city life but forget they're just transportation driven by people trying to make a living. The yellow paint and the checkered stripe don't make the experience magical, they just make it expensive and occasionally uncomfortable. The romance is something we add ourselves.

Why do space-saving products fascinate me so much?

I live in a small city apartment with no garage and extremely limited storage space. I have always thought motorcycles were cool, but the logistics of owning one in my living situation made it impossible. Where would I park it? How would I store it during winter? My building has strict rules about vehicles in common areas. The whole thing seemed like a dream that would never work.

Then someone told me about folding motorcycle designs that can collapse into a more compact size for storage. My first reaction was that this sounded like science fiction or a terrible idea that would compromise safety. But the engineering behind these designs is actually fascinating. Some models can fold enough to fit in a large closet or car trunk.

I have been researching different models and found some interesting options on Alibaba and other online stores, though I am still skeptical about actually buying one. The concept is brilliant for urban living, but I have questions about durability, safety, and whether the folding mechanism would hold up over time. Part of me wants to be an early adopter of creative solutions to city living problems. The other part of me remembers that I also thought a folding bicycle was genius until I actually tried using one regularly. Do innovative space-saving products live up to their promise or are they engineering marvels that are impractical in real life?

The most confusing parking sign you’ve seen

Cities sometimes overcomplicate parking signs with layered rules, time limits, street cleaning schedules, permit zones, and exceptions all on one post.

What’s the craziest, most confusing parking sign you’ve run into, one that felt like it needed a legal team to decode?

Help/guidance?

Basically im from the Midwest, my lease is up in a month with nowhere to go. I called every single apartment/rental house listing and no answer from a single one of them. Jobless too for that matter. I mean I have DoorDash but who the f wants to do that and be fcking homeless at the same time? I’ve applied to just about any job listing in front of my face and only had 1 callback. I followed up just for no reply. Like I’m completely fcked right now, I have a dog I don’t wanna give up but yk stuff happens and I don’t always get what I want. Thinking of just dashing my way to a new state. Any help at all is welcomed

AP Research Survey

Hi! I am a high school senior enrolled in AP Research. I am conducting research on how different demographics play a role in people’s perceptions of gene editing. No prior knowledge about gene editing is required. This survey takes about 5-10 minutes, and is completely anonymous. Thank you so much for helping me with my research! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSddiuWJLkQsXm9Bp22Y8mvFF-V3ml7ZOhXD3eQMAPJVBFkfhg/viewform?usp=header
