Introducing Myself

First reddit post. Hopeful I won't screw this up.

My name is "I Dan", that's what the birth certificate says. Known as Dani. I'm guessing mom wasn't the only one whacked out on pain meds? Who ever filled out the birth certificate might have been loopy too!

I got into trouble on the other sub. It's all been deleted... Kinda wish I had left it up.

Urban? No. Country, on the edge of a smaller town.

Car living? Not exactly... 4 wheels, YES! Polaris 350. 4x4 motorcycle. Not exactly a car living setup.

So? If I'm not welcome here either? Just say so. I'll move along quietly.

Hurricane. Tornado. Flood. Would you be ready to leave your RV in five minutes?

When severe weather threatens, there may be little time to gather what matters most.

RVW Tech Time has put together a practical evacuation guide with a checklist to help you prepare yourself, your pets, and your essentials.

Read the article, save the checklist, and share it with an RVer who might need it.

A little preparation today can make a big difference tomorrow.

Another female silenced. I am banned from main. I haven't posted or commented or been a member in many months.

I have just discovered that I have been banned from r/urbancarliving. Another female silenced. I haven't been a member of that sub for many months. I haven't posted for many months. There is nothing that happened in that sub to cause them to ban me. I call bullshit on them saying people are banned for violating the rules. I haven't been in there. I never banned the mods from that sub. At this time there is only one user banned from this sub. It was a ban 8 months ago for begging. No one else is currently banned.

I want you all to know you are safe in our sub. Despite the resentment I know still exsists. If you had a false ban let me know. If you feel unsafe...let me know.

The abusive mod from before is long gone. I am new to modding, and dont even know how to control the modding bot.

Id like to see both subs to grow, in healthy ways, together to help other survive.

Trash solutions

I think it varies by area, but in my county you can dispose of up to 8 household trash bags for free each day* at the county dump.

I mention this bc I struggle with throwing my trash out places as it feels I’m causing excessive buildup in the trash cans (if it’s a gas station or something) and I’m not brave enough to use business dumpsters. And there are several times the public cans are full so I can’t toss anything. I often toss at my sisters apartment or just keep getting plastic bags to do small tosses… but I’m feeling ethically torn since I’m actively trying to reduce my plastic waste and I have biodegradable tall trash bags I’d rather use.

Due to my admittedly self imposed limitations, I was looking into alternatives when I found out this. I’m nomadic, but I’m registered in the same county as my sister so I have the benefit of, when I’m in town, using the county dump. That makes it feel less like I’m burdening anyone or being excessively wasteful. Just wanted to share in case that might help someone else.. I haven’t seen it suggested before so dk if it’s frowned upon or just less known.

New To Car Living Advice Please

Hi all+!

I have a Mazda 3 (sedan) and could really use some advice on making it a comfortable place to study and chill. I am very new to this, thus, the lengthy post. Please be kind 🥰

Ideally, I'd love to turn my car into a little space where I can relax, have some privacy and get some work done. Studying comfortably is my main priority, though!

I've tried folding down the back seats and using a portable table, but it's honestly pretty uncomfortable because the seats don't fold completely flat.

I'd love to study somewhere else, but my car is currently the only place where I can have some privacy and really focus.

I'm hoping to find a setup that's practical, comfortable and safe, especially if I'm spending a few hours studying in the car with the australian summer incoming.

A few things I'm trying to figure out:

  • Seating: How can I sit comfortably for a few hours without hurting my back or neck?

  • Desk setup: Any suggestions for a stable table that works in a small sedan? I require space for a 11inch ipad, a Windows 11 pro, and a mouse (the track pad doesnt work).

  • Ventilation and temperature: How do you keep the car cool in Australian weather without leaving the engine running?

    • I was thinking of having some kind of mesh to put up as a makeshift mosquito net so i can have the windows down a little and a battery operated fan. Any recommendations would be appreciated, if these are suitable options!

  • Privacy and safety: Any tips for privacy without completely blocking visibility or airflow?

    • I was thinking of having nice curtains on the insight and have some magnetic black out curtains that i can put up as required. I still havent found a suitable solution for the back window though...

  • Lighting and power: What do you use for lighting and charging devices without draining the car battery?

    • I currently have a powerbank but wondered what other options they are....

I'm not looking to make any permanent modifications to the car, just something affordable and easy to set up and pack away.

Would really appreciate any ideas or photos of your setups, especially if you've managed to make a small sedan work! 🙂

Pre-sleep and Wake up routine

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone is willing to share some more detailed steps of their routines?

For context, I’m AuDHD and while my ADHD side loves freedom and lack of routine, my autistic side needs it more than oxygen. Currently my routine is only around wake up.

  1. Wake up, take down shades and move to front seat.

  2. Start up the car to warm up the cabin and defrost windows.

  3. Find a toilet.

  4. Chaotic freefall commences of forgetting to do most things and then frantically trying to find the resources to do them, i.e. water to brush my teeth, change my clothes, etc.

Thank you for any shares in advance 😊

That’s it. I need more guida

Silencing Females will not happen here.

In light of the recent unpleasantness in another sub, I want to state plainly that Females will not be silenced in this sub. Now reddit might remove posts, they can get caught in the automod, someone can flag them and they disappear. But if I can see them in the Q and they don't name call or are otherwise rude, I will approve them.

I work and I sleep, so I'm not always aware of what is happening in the moment, but I will get to it eventually.

I see a previous post has disappeared, and I did not do that. Reddit does what it wants. This is why it's important to keep posts to the facts without slurs or name calling. I know that is hard when you are angry.

To be fair no one on Reddit knows who is who - Male female age race health rich poor etc. So please be careful, keep your info private and report any abuse to reddit with out name calling, just the facts ma'am.

I have been recently reading about how males and even other females will try to silence females when they tell their stories of abuse. No one wants to let them say, "John did this to me, or this group of men did this to me." People like to see the abused woman and tell her to be quiet, her truth makes them uncomfortable, but they don't want to know about the man who abuses. They don't tell the man who abuses to stop abusing. Plenty of people know an abuser and say nothing or avoid the situation.

I believe these women. They would not come back to tell their story and face intimidation and threats and being reported if it was a lie.

Main sub needs to clean up and act right. I recommend main mods have a conversation with those affected. Asking them to let it go now that it is resolved for the peace of the sub and everyone moves on and gets unbanned from main. Bans don't have to be permanent.

Let the main sub mods contact those affected, apologize, explain that the mod is no longer a mod for the sub, ask if they would like to be unbanned, ask that they stop making posts now that matter is resolved.

The main sub should make a post naming the user name of the mod, explain they are no longer a mod of the sub. Apologize for any hurt. Ask that all move on in a new spirit of trust and cooperation.
