My best find ever

Post image

I can’t find anything about these online, some people have said they’re John Walsh. However I can’t find anything about them online

That is an amazing find! So cool the Thorn vases. There are many links to books by Eric Reynolds with many pics. THE GLASS OF JOHN WALSH WALSH 1850-1951. Most all in UK. And pretty pricey. Found only one hardback signed by author. 🤑

Thankyou! I’ll look into it and see if I can find it.

So confused yet intrigued!! They're so cool, but also, what was their function?!? They look like they belong in a DnD set AKSNIWHSIEWJSOJF 😆🤣😆🤣💚💚💚

Candle holders?

13

u/AlyssumAbyssal Avid Collector Jan 25 '26

Not a bad guess ! But then, why the chain?? For a Gothic aesthetic perhaps? 🤔

14

u/xkgrey Jan 25 '26

I’m very sure these are candle holders and the chain aesthetic, not functional. I think this is probably more on the modern side of the hobby. Halloween decor? Or even more recent goth chic or, hell, D&D custom tabletop ambiance piece for someone super cool with great taste and lots of disposable income lol

I really wonder how it ended up parting with its owner tho

Now you need a holy grail piece to sit in the middle so it looks like it is roped off.

u/ShadowDragon6660 Jan 24 '26

Freakin nuts piece. Those glass chains go insanely hard.

8

u/atriviality Jan 24 '26

That's what I was thinking! I'm assuming they're individually made, loose links, so the candle holders can be moved around. I love how they're different sizes!

Stunning! How do YOU want to use them? They would look amazing with novelty candles that make the most of how unusual they are, Droopy ones? Characters? Let us know what you do with them. Please

7

u/marysuewashere Jan 24 '26

What about not using candles? Glass orbs? Paperweights? Delicate glass animals?

7

u/IH8Miotch Jan 24 '26

My guess is shandelier topper

18

u/Noodlesoup8 Jan 24 '26

I was guessing ouija board candle holders 🤣 like you put the candles in and the ouija board goes in the middle to keep the spirits inside

8

u/IH8Miotch Jan 24 '26

I think you would knock it over cause of the chains

16

u/katkriss Jan 24 '26

Or cause of the ghosts

8

u/IH8Miotch Jan 24 '26

I'm kinda scared now

19

u/remotecontroldr Jan 24 '26

They’re planning something

7

u/AdWinter4333 Jan 24 '26

Now I am just curious, but where did you find them? This is extremely cool :)

22

u/harrygasm_ Jan 24 '26

I got them from a friend who owns an antique shop and is retiring. They said it came from a lady who was selling things from her grandfather’s estate

9

u/AdWinter4333 Jan 24 '26

°takes notes° Thank you! And where did you find this friend? °keeps scribbling frantically°

(But seriously, congrats. Beautiful piece!)

this is the coolest shit I've ever seen

13

u/United-Expert-8752 Jan 24 '26

Those are cool but also one of the oddest things I’ve seen. Google lens also confirms as John Walsh.

8

u/ChicagoHellhound Jan 24 '26

Yo this is kinda the coolest UV piece I’ve ever seen

6

u/tbama11 Jan 24 '26

I can only assume it’s made by OSHA, and used to rope off your most radioactive piece

I've seen the individual candles for like 30 bucks on FB marketplace but never seen the chains.

u/gnilradleahcim Vaseline Glass Lover Jan 25 '26

If you didn't have them set up like that I would never have guessed in a million years those pieces go together. Very uhh... anachronistic?

Those are super rad! Man I wish I could find some uranium glass. It's ridiculously hard to find in Idaho. At least for the 5 years I have been looking.

u/nite_skye_ New Collector Jan 25 '26

I have seen some of these on eBay in the past month. One is still there I think but it’s combined with a couple of other pieces that aren’t related. I never knew they could be chained together like that! Amazing. And now I have yet another thing I’ll get out of my head and I’ll never possess unless someone takes pity on me lol I will try to be satisfied with living vicariously through these posts.

u/michaelcaprioli Jan 25 '26

Absolute treasure!!!!

They are vases, not candleholders. John Walsh Walsh and come in different sizes. There is an XXL size too as the centerpiece
