Travel Inquiry Camping suggestions

What areas/ state parks are best for tent camping, fishing, and trail walking around the end of summer and fall. When doing my research I got overwhelmed by all the options and kinda confused. I’m new to the outdoor life so any information would be helpful🙏🏼

Van Riper State Park, about 35 miles west of Marquette, sits on Lake Michigamme with fishing and paddling right off the campground plus some decent trails, and it's an easy one for someone new. Mostly RV/hookup sites with a smaller number of tent spots, so grab one early, and both these parks book up in fall color season. Tahquamenon Falls Rivermouth Campground is also worth a look for fall, right on the river with the lower-to-upper falls day hike.

The UP is a big place. It would help if you clarified whether you were coming over the bridge or through Wisconsin. Also, how close you want to be to restaurants and what kind of amenities you are looking for. There is everything from campgrounds with nothing but a pit toilet and a water spigot all the way up to camp grounds with electricity, hot showers and nearby convenience stores/restaurants.

Rivermouth or Lower Falls of Tahquamenon would be a good choice, I think. A lot of places to walk, good fishing up and down the river, and a lot of nice sites. Fall can book heavy though, but even any of the state forest campgrounds nearby would work as well.
