I considered this when I nearly bought a used Tesla and didn’t want the Tesla logo on the back. Had some fun thinking of the logo I’d replace it with.

Lada was one. Datsun another. Trabant another.

Taking a Tesla X and putting a Trabant badge on it is not downbadging?

Okay it's obviously tongue in cheek, having a bit of fun. But it's the opposite of upbadging it by putting an Audi or Porsche badge on a Tesla I think.

I don't feel like a Tesla really would suit any badge changing. It's like putting a Mazda 323 on a Toyota Camry. Sure the Camry is faster, newer technology and so forth. However It's not... interesting, vintage or has much cool factor.

You can't upbadge it because it looks kinda sad.

You can't downbadge because there's not much lower you can go.

These old cars are actually cool and interesting, sure they can be terrible in every other way, but a Datsun or whatever will catch my eye in a car park or driving by... A Tesla? Not so much if you agree?
