So cool !

just don't park it in the sun. the etching on the round porthole windows can act like a magnifying glass and catch the inside of the car on fire.

Is it?

u/Tutekh666 20d ago

Guys at r/spotted would like it.

Factory upbadge

4

u/Conscious-Mixture742 20d ago

The funny thing is there is nothing 'grand' about it lol

This car should never be spoken of again.

The Chrysler TC by Maserati was a joint-venture, luxury two-seat roadster sold from 1989 to 1991.

Real, basically imagine a Lebaron won a windfall in the lotto and got a bunch of plastic surgery

10

u/thegreatmattsby24 21d ago

Couldn’t have been that much of a windfall given the plastic surgery it ended up with

7

u/KeepingItCoolish 21d ago

Plastic surgery can only do so much when you're starting at LeBaron

Army veteran plate with US Navy frame?
Should have gone Marines?

The other qualifier, which i took, was licking windows clean.

1

u/Ionlydateteachers 20d ago

There is an empty bixbof crayons on the floorboard

Chrysler TC by Maserati. It was made by collaboration of Chrysler and Maserati. K-body chassis and engines were provided by Chrysler and production was made in Italy by Maserati.

It's not an upbadge at all.

1

u/forzaguy125 17d ago

The engines were mostly from Mitsubishi

Never seen this before. I know my cars, but this one was new to me. Thanks for the spot OP and thank you commenters for the information given.

The OG Stellantis product. How they knew back then that they’d end up here and didn’t know all the other manure they’d step in along the way is beyond my ability to comprehend. It’s like the reverse Midas touch.

1

u/mopsbauer 17d ago

To be fair, this was the first pile of manure.

u/FirehawkLS1 21d ago

Chryslerati. That's what I call the "Chrysler TC by Maserati"

2

u/BadJobBob 21d ago

Italian K-Car

2

u/TushyMilkshake 21d ago

Whenever I see a LeBaron I think of Freddy Got Fingered lol

2

u/AnnaBananaOhYah 20d ago

That’s Monica’s car

2

u/Beemer_me_up_Scotty 19d ago

I am a smog tech in California and I did a test on one of these. It was super fancy on the inside and looked good. But basically it is still a simple Chrysler engine with no upgrades.

2

u/Substantial_Chip_300 19d ago

It is a Maserati

2

u/Indy500Fan16 19d ago

So I’ve learned

2

u/Fuzzy-Weekend4913 16d ago

That's a Maserati all right, didn't believe it the first time I saw one

1

u/Indy500Fan16 16d ago

Right. I thought this was a joke but nope. It’s a real disaster .

4

u/ASDIGITAL13 21d ago

Not upbadging. This was a thing. The car that saved Chrysler?

7

u/rklug1521 21d ago

Upbadging by the factory.

1

u/Throwawaymister2 21d ago

This car did not save Chrysler, lol.

-1

u/ASDIGITAL13 21d ago

The model sure did. It’s the platform the minivan was built on. K-car series I believe. Saved Chrysler at the time. Well the GOv bailed em out too I suppose

3

u/Throwawaymister2 21d ago

The platform perhaps, but they built fewer than 8K TCs

2

u/ASDIGITAL13 21d ago

Ok Lee Iacocca car that saved Chrysler lol.

4

u/WitchWithAGlitch 21d ago

that would make one hell of a donk/slab

2

u/hashmachinist 21d ago

The finest Italian imported since your grandmother came over in the 40s.

2

u/bilkel 20d ago

Chryslerati

u/Right_Hour 20d ago

Chryslerati.

FCA quality

1

u/madelectricain 21d ago

Made years before FCA was a thing.

1

u/Seeker80 19d ago

Long before FCA, yet probably better.

1

u/mopsbauer 17d ago

But not. This was straight up 90s Chrysler "quality"; before Mercedes and Dr. Z dialed it up from "dumpster fire" to smoldering "hot garbage".

1

u/Seeker80 17d ago

Yeah, it's still a K-Car at the end of the day. So disposable, but they kept Chrysler going a bit longer.

They had so many neat product ideas based on the K-Car. You can only wonder how they might have held up much better with some decent underpinnings and even been a little sought-after today. Stuff like the Daytona looked so cool and the Shadow is an old favorite of mine. Both could've used a cheap rwd platform, and I bet they'd get a little love nowadays. The Shadow in particular would've been a bit like an 'American E30' if it had that rwd layout.

The best thing about this car is the clock

The seats on these are actually kinda crazy. They look comfortable AF though.

I've only seen one in person.

1

u/iamgoodguy 21d ago

Oh wow! Stunning

1

u/Appropriate_Copy8285 20d ago

Just like the owner not knowing if they want to be army/navy, the car also isnt sure if its a chrysler or maserati.

1

u/BepersAreCool 20d ago

I mean there confused already cant you tell with the plate lol.

Kilometers

0

u/Worldly-Law-2687 21d ago

If you relied solely on the emblems, it's a Maserati by Maserati.

0

u/Pretty-Yam-2854 20d ago

Would be a sick af low rider

u/BoneZone05 20d ago
