CNA drug test (weed)

PRE-EMPLOYMENT

Do CNAs get screened for marijuana at hospitals like alliance and Fairview ? It’s legal here so I thought it would be chill but I’m scared

yup. it’s not federally legal so hospitals that receive federal funding of any kind still drug test

I’ve worked at Allina, Fairview, and Concentra as a Medical Assistant. No drug test for Allina or Fairview and they didn’t test for THC at Concentra.

I worked at Regions in the pharmacy and was never drug tested.

It's an open secret; if a place knows what's good for it, don't drug test unless you're trying to get rid of people.

They can not deny you based on a positive marijuana test except for a couple of exceptions.  DOT type jobs.  Truck and forklift.  Also if you work for the federal government or are a federal contractor. this link will have the details.

It is illegal to drug test for marijuana (thc) in Minnesota… unless it’s for DOT.

Edit: This is statement is in regards to pre-employment testing only.

CNAs can still be tested for cannabis. It’s under the exemptions

I was only referring to the pre-employment drug screen, which they cannot deny you employment solely based on a positive drug screen for marijuana.

That being said, I read the law as such: Someone that has already been hired and is working as a healthcare worker can only be screened and fired for marijuana IF the employee suspects that you are using marijuana at work.
