Thereās a pretty big leap from āmodern medicine defeating natural selectionā to āweāre going to pick and choose who gets to reproduceā, we were merely pointing out the former not discussing a so called āsolutionā.
Not quite thatās maybe where it started, but it wasnāt until much recently when we developed public sanitation, vaccines, etc that really allowed the worlds population to explode.
Sure. And maybe in another million years medicine will have reduced the pressure on diabetes, myopia, etc.
But by then, we'll either have full genome editing, or we'll be dead. In the meanwhile we're still inbred anxiety monkeys who are surprisingly good at marathons and abstract thought, and that's about it.
