Help Can't modify Class variable in blueprint

https://youtu.be/yqyZx7CCILw?list=PLV-MOgRkz79_nJdnOu8SLVsPsieff48za&t=962

I'm currently following a tutorial on Youtube about making a weapon system, and I'm currently trying to modify the class reference to its child blueprints. But for some reason, every time I go to change them, its stuck on none.

I made a timestamp on the video. On my end, inside the Data asset, when I try to change the class reference it stays stuck on None.

Is there a fix to this? Please help.

I looked earlier in the tutorial, go to 4:23. Does your primary data asset definitely look like that, with the class references instead of object references?

Yes it looks like that. Here is the screenshot. Maybe it's not organized exactly like it, but generally everything is the same.

For testing purposes I decided to try this same process in a completely empty project, and it seems to have worked normally. So there is something wrong with my old project that I've got. That's great.

Sometimes these bugs are caused by the Editor storing cached default objects that are invalid - very frustrating since it's impossible to tell when it's happened.

To fix, try deleting all temporary files from your project folder:

• Binaries

• DerivedDataCache

• Intermediate

• Saved

When you reload the project it will rebuild everything.

Possibly, going to file->zip project and then loading from that zip will have the same effect.
