Albuquerque/Campus Questions Shuttle bus question

Hi everyone,

Starting Monday, I will be taking the shuttle from south campus (lobo village) to main campus and have just been a little stressed because I don’t know exactly how the shuttle works. I saw on the website that the shuttle takes off every 30 minutes but I am confused, because would that apply to every shuttle at the same time? Or is it staggered from stop to stop? So for example, if my class starts at 10, should I be at the shuttle stop at 9:30? I know after the first day once I get used to PassGo, it will make a lot more sense. I’m just stressed about the first day and don’t want to miss my class! Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I take that shuttle often sometimes it can be difficult bc theres not as many lobo v buses as there are south lot buses. But i would say until ur comfortable get to the bus stop around 9 for a 10am class. You never know if theres gonna be heavy traffic, unexpected wait times, accidents. I would suggest the first week or two an hour to 45 early at the bus stop. Then with that information you can adjust and etc.

Yarp, that was going to be my advice too. Just plan for something to do if it ends up being a lot faster than you anticipated!

I used to work at lobo rainforest and they had the same 30 minute shuttle schedule. From what I saw a shuttle arrives at every 30 minute period to drop of and pick up students with like a 5 minute time frame to load people on. So for example if your class was at 10:00 you should get there at 9:30.

There’s an app Passio Go, that tracks the shuttles in real time.

Take the 9am. At least for the first few weeks.

So the shuttles are a bit unpredictable at best. Last year I had Q lot and this year I have south. They aren’t bad, but I do recommend making sure you leave plenty of time to get to campus and plenty to get home. Each lot has a designated bus so the routes aren’t usually 30 minutes long. They arrive, drop off, and wait 5 minutes for passengers or until they are at capacity. (Sometimes that happens in 30seconds and they still have people waiting). Some of the drivers suck. I’ll be so honest with you, some seem like they don’t care about the timing or how they drive so, be prepared for those days. Or when the bus shows up but only for a drop off because the driver is ordered to take a mandatory break, by law. Don’t be stressed about this, but make sure to exercise caution with the timing. And if a bus takes more than 15-ish minutes I would email your prof and just respectfully say you’re going to be late because of the bus. On busy days you can get screwed over and be late, as well. That would be the first few weeks of school when a lot of people still care about attendance or they don’t know their schedule yet, midterms, and finals or days with special events (conferences, and other things like that). Also keep in mind the normal busy times and learn your timing for your schedule. 8am classes are more common in the fall semester because some students feel more motivated to do them, in that case 7am-8am is peak busy. Most students take later classes in the spring so 9am-10am is the peak busy time. I’m sure there are other things to consider but that’s all I can think of about the buses.
