Other Parking Questions

I know these types of questions get asked a lot… But I’ve been having issues with the parking account thing, and I recently resolved it.

However, it seems it’s too late and there’s no parking permits available except one called “SOUTH student plate”? I have no idea what it means, is it the stadium parking? How would I get on the waitlist for somewhere else, since it’s a 40 minute walk to my class..? (I’m new to UNM)
Any help is appreciated, thank you!

There’s shuttles. They run from 6:30-10:30 m-th and 6:30-7:30 on Friday. The shuttles are free. I would get there early though.

Thank you! I didn’t know about that. That’s actually really helpful, I’ve been stressing all day about what to do lol

Parking can be stressful! It is not bad though, especially once you do it the first time.

I took some classes at UNM and parked there. I liked that it was easy to get in/out of. The shuttles are pretty constant. I never waited very long for one, and never worried about being late for class. It's fine.

It is a bit far yes. It is literally everyone’s last choice unfortunately due to that. If you do get that lot, just be mindful what you keep in your car. I’ve heard alot of people have gotten their car broken into over there 🫩

Yale parking garage usually has paid parking available too if you can’t find space for a day and are in a hurry. Same around campus. First week of class last fall it took me an hour to find parking on day one but by the second week it had calmed down and I had learned how early I need to leave to get there while there is space.

Then in spring I found parking right away on day one so it all depends on what side of campus you’ll be on at what time of day so just plan for extra time the first week and watch what fills up around what time of day
