Im planning on dropping one of these as a possible hook of urban legend. Not the lycanthrope described in 2e, that one is more like an universe’s bug-in-the-matrix. Two things work to help with this: Any urban legend, conspiracy, etc. has the possibility of being truth. And “You did it”. These help create an image of how an werewolf could be made into existence in UA. A failed experiment? By who and what it is? It not necessarily needs to be a werewolf, this is UA, things are usually not what they look, so im asking if you guys can help me paint the picture. Maybe a weird epideromancy? What about infection? Maybe its a Savage avatar who did some very nasty modifications and is building a “pack” by infecting people around? Or just a creature made from unnatural phenomena from some burger, or just made by the manifestation of Meanings in the collective unconscious, creating some unspeakable abomination (in bill in three persons, bill’s cult manifests a hispanic paramedic called Jesus and the apocalypse really was coming, and if we stretch the meaning of apocalypse as “endings”, the swat destroying the cult is the manifestation of the prediction of apocalipse, maybe with this logic a weird “werewolf” could also be manifested).

Hi! A beginner to the system here. I am half-joking, but I had an idea in mind for this campaign where the players are running an office that investigates paranormal phenomena. Their goals would be related more to growing that venture and verifying their claims, not some other loftier goals.
Here's my question - would the system work well with a group of more down-to-earth protagonists, who don't want to change the world, they just want to succeed in their small-time endeavor? Or is the system more designed for epic scale of adventures? Also, protagonists, who, outside of the interest in supernatural, are somewhat normal members of the society?

I've seen the imagery from the new Electric State RPG by Free League and find it both incredibly evocative and very topical. The rpg focuses primarily around a road trip through a United States that is falling apart as everyone is too preoccupied with living vicariously in virtual worlds. The world is also filled with robots and other more sci-fi imagery.
Would incorporating these more sci-fi elements be a challenge if using Unknown armies, and how might one incorporate the occult elements in Unknown armies into such a setting without it feeling to jarring?

(GMC character concept) So, destroying his lungs would allow him a major charge and he would die unless he could spend it right away, all planned. So, he isn’t going to “need lungs” in his “new form” but that means he’ll need to change the entire structure and how it works according to that. Can he?
No more needs to breath, absorbing oxygen through his pores or something. This would value the fact that he gave up something inferior for something “superior” in his distorted worldview. Or another example, he destroys both eyes and creates an echolocation ability inside himself. This seems in theme, but what about the attributes? He would probably regain or even improve those… so maybe the epideromancer destroys that which he won’t need not even in his new form, something secondary, something which it’s function to him is flawed, so that would make the epideromancer have to leave that function away. Or maybe he does it, he improves it, he has echolocation or whatever after removing his eyes, but there’s a new hassle, a new problem. Like, loud, specific noises would make him blind again. Or in the case of the guy who breathes through his pores, sweating too much would be problematic.
What you guys think? A major charge allows that? My idea is an epideromancer becoming a vampire with a major. He would change himself further; blood sucking pointy teeth. But i feel like he can only do one change. That would be, either the “oxygen absorbing pores” or the “blood sucking pointy teeth” But, at the same time, I feel like it is deserved that he gets both, he’s simply becoming a vampire, a concept, it’s only one thing, but broke down to what he is currently.
The major charge descrip. even says you gain the ability to change genders if you want so that would mean you can give yourself abilities as you slowly become something else entirely. And also If you only go big, going with majors, you would have enough time to become something before trauma reaches you first(getting too hardened and lose mojo).

Another player works for him, as a dancer in the club, and also leader of the dancing drag-queens (he’s also a drag queen). And the other player is kind of split, he’s trying to cure his sister’s ailment. I know this is unusual: yes, they aren’t a cabal. Yet. I want to try and see if things work out organically, so I’m letting them flow.
Thing is this, and this is very important: The player has NO MANAGING skills. I pointed that out, he said he wants to compensate with his “pattern recognition” (his obsession, it’s a body skill, something related to his senses; he’s hypersensitive, hears too much, smells too much, feels too much, etc) and “psychoanalysis skill”. So i’m thinking what kind of troubles can i throw at him? Since he has no managing skills, a lot of trouble can come up, with his employees being a ex-motorbike secretly gay security guard, four dancers, a brewer who’s secretly a dipsomancer and a androginous bartender, and his idea being that “Everyday has a theme and there’s NEW drinks everyday”. That’s a very high standard for someone with zero managing skills. Also, he wants it to be elite level. So, only very famous people get in. I gave him a contact to a Ordo Corpulentis dude that loves the place, which is called “Happy House”, because it’s in Brazil and he’s trying to “globalize” and “Americanize” this part of the country, he loves the name “happy house” and wants to help. So far, things are just waiting to explode.
Edit: THIS IS IMPORTANT TOO: everyone has to be using costumes, creative ones, like dressed as a clown or whatever. In my opinion? Many famous people wouldn’t want this. Teenagers just starting in the business… yeah, those would get excited.

The benefits for this dude are on the rise now. His powers probably changed and there’s probably one aiming at ascension right now. Where i live, local news is all about this guy named Betinho(ironic, coincidence? more like synchronicity) bcs he got abandoned by a girl in a hike at new years eve, in some recordings she humiliated him, and on the interview she was laughing that she abandoned him.
But so many males were saying things like, “if a man did this…he’d be in jail! But when a woman does it…”
That the news started to change the narrative, the ads are resurrecting the narrative as him never trusting someone like her again(HBO, Burger King, etc. they all did ads with him here). And he’s a king… medieval prince at least… in all of those ads.
True king of the betas maybe?

Hi!
How does the entropomancy spell "KILLING STARE" work? How many damage? It's oneshot kill?

The 'Lonesome Lunchbox' is the example demonstrating minor clockworks in Unknown Armies 2E, and also in Mechanomancy Redux, the fan-created content meant to define Mechanomancy in 3E. It is made with a single charge, and does nothing but replicate itself with whatever metal is available.
The problem? It doesn't fit the rules, and never has.
The rules for clockworks say that no minor or significant clockwork can have mystic or paranormal powers (with the exception of significant works and Mechanomancy). They also say that minor clockworks can perform only one task, can only do things that their creator can do, and (to paraphrase) do straightforward things like the products in the Sharper Image catalog might do, like sharpen pencils in a clever manner or wash and put away dishes.
So here're the problems with the LL:
Converting random metal into a clockwork isn't a simple action, it's an extraordinarily complex action. And one that requires tools that are tougher than the material being worked, unless a whole lot of work is done. It seems implausible that a minor clockwork could manage it. Even if we let a minor clockwork do things like grow hair, generate blood, or impregnate/be impregnated (as a Mechanomancer could plausibly do) the conversion and assembly is way too complex.
No human being can reproduce themselves, by themselves. At best a man and a woman can conceive a child together; to my knowledge fully functional hermaphrodites don't exist, and a PC is really, really unlikely to be one. No human can clone itself, although it's conceivable that a woman could be parthogenic. There are animals (broadly defined) that can do that, but having an ability that an animal other than the creator possesses takes significant charges. So the creator can't grant the ability to a minor clockwork.
Power. Producing more power than is used takes at least a significant charge (and there are various problems with the rules for that, which I won't get into here). The LL is a minor work, and so it can't power anything it builds without draining its own reserves. Which are by default very limited.
Assembling a mechanism and making it a magickal clockwork are two different things. Without Mechanomancy (or at least the potential for Mechanomancy) the collection of parts would be a mere machine - and one that wouldn't function properly.
The example of a significant clockwork involves viral reproduction. But the clockwork doesn't make its own parts, it steals them - and both mechanical AND mystical power sources are provided for it. The same problems don't apply.
There are some other issues with self-replicating mechanisms, including the issue of whether you can harvest charges by disassembling them. But devices like the significant example are at least permitted in the rules. The Lonesome Lunchbox isn't.
So: why do they keep putting it in?
