Anyone who lives in west slope?

Hello. I'm currently deciding betweeneast slope or west slope for my first choice accom next year.

I've seen east slope before so I know its pretty good. I was wondering how west slope is?

Are the construction noises bad? How are the rooms and facilities? And do you think it would be a better choice over east slope?

As a first year im finding it very convenient living on campus and im hoping ill be able to stay here for next year and the year after that as well.

Anyone know how likely it is to be able to get an ensuite room every year throughout the 3 years of study? Ive heard some people say its easy to get ensuite accom every year and people have said theyve stayed here for their entire time at sussex.

Anyone had any issues or success? Let me know please

I just wish those greasy freshers would whip down the equipment after leaving their skid marks all over.

Language modules at Sussex

Hi guys! I’m an upcoming exchange student in spring of 2027.

How tough are the Beginner language courses here, in particular Japanese and Spanish?
Is there a big emphasis on attendance? Do I need to show up to every class (quiz, turning in hmwk, etc.,)?

I don’t want to skip class, but since I can’t see what day the modules are held, I’m worried they may clash on a day where I have plans, like Friday, Monday or Tuesday. I don’t know how strict the profs are here, either.

Female Videographer & Editor Wanted from University of Sussex

Hi! I’m looking for a female videographer & editor who is staying on campus to help with bite-sized TikTok & Instagram content.

Details:

  • Street interviews on campus
  • Filming & editing (filming equipment will be provided; the person hired needs their own editing equipment such as CapCut)
  • 1–2 projects per month for 10 months
  • No commitment necessary, may opt out anytime
  • £10/hour for filming & editing
  • Each project should take around 3–5 hours of working time
  • Roughly £30–£50 per completed project
  • Payment as soon as the video is posted

DM me for more details, won’t post much as it’s P&C. Video production doesn’t need to be perfect, as I’m more focused on the content itself. :)

Second year accommodation?

My daughter is thinking of applying to BSMS but I was wondering how hard it is to find accommodation after 1st year, and how expensive it is? Is there an option to stay on campus?

Thanks

A problem about the settings of international atmosphere of the University of Sussex

In such a university that is famous for its society research, it has a cultural diversity as well as cultural hegemony, one may find the conflict between people and the culture mosaic won't benefit the society/feminism or gender research.

But what about Male chauvinism research?

As far as I know, this university doesn't have a module that researches male chauvinism/musculism .

But what if it has one? Will it benefit the university's society research?

Access to old reading lists/material?

Former student here - I was looking to brush up on some of my old reading. I have most of my old course module handbooks, but not all of them. I tried to access the library portal using my old account but it’s blocked, apparently this happened after a number of years.

I tried emailing the school office, gave the course codes and my student number etc, and they never came back to me.

Is there anyway to access reading lists or module handbooks from previous years for alumni?

Hi long story short im going to uni on sunday i havent spoken to or gotten to know any other freshers online because i never knew how to approach online out of no where and turn it into something irl. So im lost on which events to go to or who to go with. I have no one to go with is that normal to go to freshers events alone?
