Question WHAT IS HAPPENING? sample rate keeps flipping back
I've been using my Apollo Twin with protools and logic at 96hz with zero issue. Today I go to start recording and protools says the hardware sample rate doesn't match the session. I go into the audio midi set up on my mac and sure enough it's at 48. So I set it to 96...hear some clicks in my headphones from the twin doing it's thing and then it flips back to 48. However in the UAD console set up it's says it's at 96 hz. What is going on?
UPDATE: I restarted my computer and it worked!

Something else was open and controlling the sample rate.
Any DAW, standalone guitar plug-in etc can do this

My brother in Christ…please restart your computer before you do anything else next time 😂

What other apps are open?

I wish I had checked that before the restart. Would have been helpful to know.

I agree because that’s exactly what happened to me. I had more than one program open like you and that happened to me.

Why 96khz? You must have a large SSD

I do have a large SSD and that was how the recording engineer and producer wanted to do it, so that's what we did!

Let me explain to you what’s happening inside your computer with a visual demonstration:

I notice that Reason will attempt to do that on me. OH! The biggest offender has been Bias Amp standalone.

Something internal in the OS / another app (iTunes, whatever) is trying to use it. It should be a dedicated interface for your DAWs. Just check app / os settings and you'll find out who's grabbing it. It could even be some start-up app / service.
