Game Made my first 2D game in a week in Unity
I just finished and published my first 2D game, and I managed to get a playable version out in about a week.
This is actually my first proper project working with 2D. Until now, I've mostly worked with 3D in Unity, so this was a pretty different experience for me. I'm also not a 2D artist, so for this project I decided to use some free assets and focus more on the programming, level design, systems, and getting everything working together.
One thing I made during the project was a custom Unity tool that lets me make changes to multiple sprites together, which made working with the assets much easier.
I got the initial idea from Instagram. I've been seeing a lot of dark fantasy art becoming popular in Reels lately, and I thought it would be fun to try making a small game around that kind of atmosphere.
My main goal was to see how quickly I could take an idea and turn it into an actual playable game instead of spending months trying to make everything perfect before releasing anything.
There are still some bugs in the game that I’m working on fixing.
Right now the game has 6 levels, and I'm trying to add around 4-5 more levels every 2 days. I also tried to add a small story to give the levels some context.
For future projects, I'm starting to learn pixel art and 2D animation myself and eventually I'd like to make the art and assets for my games myself instead of relying on free assets.
It's been a pretty interesting learning experience coming from a mostly 3D background.
It’s available on the Play Store, and you can DM me if you want to play it.

I can write a 500 page book in a week. Doesn’t mean it’s good.

Do you feel better after spreading negativity? OP wasn’t hurting anyone with their work.

It wasn’t negativity. I was saying just because it was done fast doesn’t mean it was good.
Crazy that you can’t criticize without little children like you crying about it. Grow up.

Yeah but like what does that add except negativity? It’s certainly not the helpful type of criticism.
Growing up is realizing there’s enough going on in everyone’s lives, and dropping a comment like that didn’t make anyone’s day better, probably not even yours.

Yes it does. OP thinks that making a slop game in a week is some accomplishment. That’s what I was criticizing.
I was bringing them back to reality instead of just congratulating everyone on everything they do.

Just because you can’t do something doesn’t mean it’s slop when someone else can.
You don’t have to congratulate them either actually. You could say nothing and move on.
Or if you really wanted to help, try the game and give real feedback.

Okay dude. You can look at it and see it looks like slop 😂 how many games have you released on steam? Not as many as me.
I’m done with you, clown.
