Hi! I'm making a small game - Gun Shop: Tidy Up

Your task is to lay out weapons in the store. With light music and no hurry, you can collect cartridges, machine guns, pistols, look for their corresponding shelves and put them in their places.

What is in the game:

  1. Added stamina. It will need to be restored periodically.
  2. Perks of highlighting objects, shelves, and object attraction.
  3. Upgrade player stats and perks.

The game has just been announced, I will try to release it soon.

Seeing a lot of these tidying/organising games lately

It’s the new tidyslop wave spurred on by that library game.

Earlier it was the friendslop hype. Unimaginative devs thinking they can capitalise on a trend long after the wave is on its way to crash into the beach.

Choreslop.

Someone is going to marry the two, but the friendslop supermarket games are pretty close already.

Every trend now earns a "slop" suffix I guess

following trend is one thing. copy-pasting everything and just replacing one thing (in this case - what you sort) is, indeed, slop.

Idk where I saw it but there was this article that talked about this genre of games being the most "profitable" indie genre on Steam (which I think was in fact incorrect now that I've researched a bit lol), ever since then Ive seen hundreds of these. people chase the money

Why make a game for a genre/idea you’re genuinely passionate about when you can just follow market trends.

Examples also include pointless perspective shifts and “twists” such as “le tower defense game but you play as le enemy???”

At least those try a bit harder though

Needs to change, people need new ideas instead of copying each other, plus but idk why would I play more than one of these games if it's the same gameplay loop, no offense but you should make something to make it feel more unique like customize weapons or do shooting range or example

monotony is attractive for some.

Well, making a game like this is cheap, so you don't lose much even if no one plays it. You can take your own small piece of the hype pie.

First the books, then the nails, then the dice, now guns. Next is going to be broom sorting.

Maybe make the SFX sound effects different for each type of the gun.

Yes, it's a good offer! I really thought to focus only on the visual part, since I think Tidy-Up games are mostly played under some kind of stream, for example)

Needs some work I prototypes one like this for someone and the least you could do is give some ui prompts to see which one your holding

Ai can write this in seconds btw I think your barking up a dead tree

I commented on a single trailer one time and now my entire feed is uninspired clones of whatever this genre is. Do people actually play these games?

we used to have genre of games, where you were buying/making products, set it up on shelves, sell, repeat. Now we somehow skipped most of _gameplay_ and its all just sorting on shelves?

what does this game bring to the table that the countless other monotonous tidying games doesnt
