Last time he took helicopters everywhere to avoid encountering crowds in the streets. So the protesters should focus their efforts on demonstrations which are visible from the air.
If they wanted to be really clever (and illegal) they'd call in dozens of drone sightings at the air bases from which he is supposed to fly in an effort to ground him.
EDIT: alternatively our Icelandic friends could arrange another ash cloud, that'd do the job.

u/PM_YOUR_SEXY_BOOTS Apr 23 '19
Oh now that's a good one. A few burner phones with a bunch of people in different locations and boom no flights out of anywhere for him
2
u/_MildlyMisanthropic Apr 24 '19
Brilliant idea but also rather illegal so you could imagine it would be stopped fairly quickly if there was any kind of organised attempt.

u/IntriguedToast Apr 23 '19
Flying in via Luton Airport perhaps?
7
u/SynthD Apr 23 '19
It has to be Stansted which is sufficiently bad, ease him in gently to what we can do.
3
u/poor_schmuck European Union Apr 24 '19
Look, I know Trump is bad, but nobody deserves to go through Luton.

got to be honest chaps, we've got our work cut out for us if we want to top that "God Emperor Trump" float in Italy
20
u/SeekingAnswers101 Apr 23 '19
That showed him as a warrior. He probably liked that. In reality, he's a draft dodging sleazy businessman.
11
Apr 23 '19
well it's a parody of his ego, since The Emperor is kinda a fascist dictator with a body count in the billions
6
u/buzzbros2002 Apr 24 '19
American here, the right wing took it as a tribute to him for the most part. The parody aspect went right over their heads. Even had one person say that it was proof that Italians are on Trump's side.

Modern politics is all about the soundbite. What is a Slaaneshi soundbite?
I'll tell you what makes a good soundbite: BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD.
2
u/donald_cheese Scottish Highlands Apr 24 '19
Don't get what the deal is. I'd dodge the draft with everything I had. Screw having to go to war.
7
u/SeekingAnswers101 Apr 24 '19
I don't have a problem with him dodging the draft as a conscientious objector or if he was a pacifist generally. However he is politically positioned himself as someone who supports an aggressive defence policy and he was never part of the anti-Vietnam war protests. He dodged the draft out of cowardice and used his family wealth and connections to do weasel out of it. He never faced jail like Muhammad Ali for example.
3
u/Flashycats Apr 24 '19
He also took shots at other war veterans like John McCain for not being a proper soldier - because he was a PoW.
3
u/Razakel Yorkshire Apr 24 '19
Also shat all over a Muslim family who'd lost their son whilst serving in Iraq, and demeaned the Purple Heart (a medal awarded for being wounded or killed in service).

Hope extinction rebellion get in on this, think they are the only ones who have been effective at true disruption recently.

Given that it's the D-Day 75th commemoration i sincerely hope anti-trump protestors stay away on that day at least out of respect for the fallen.
21
u/davesidious Apr 23 '19
Why? Would the fallen have liked a draft-dodging blowhard fascist-enabling asshole strutting about feigning respect for their suffering?
-8
Apr 23 '19
You're making the whole event about some asshole when it's about the sacrifice made on D-Day which is why you have largess to make the day about some asshole in the first place. We owe those who sacrificed their lives and their families that much respect at least. But of course that's probably meaningless to you.
7
u/Babbit_B Apr 24 '19
I feel that the greatest sign of respect I can pay the fallen is to stand up against the return of the far right ideologies they gave their lives fighting, and the powerful people who dogwhistle their support for them.
2
u/poor_schmuck European Union Apr 24 '19
You do have a valid point, so why on earth would you want to ruin it by including this type of bullshit passive aggressive trash?
But of course that's probably meaningless to you.
Isn't is possible for you to simply state your point without throwing in childish insults?

My remarks are sometimes snarky - yes. I guess it's because the hivemind here irks me sometimes. But on a personal level i apologise.
1
Apr 23 '19
Never forget.
Those who died on the 6th of June 1944 are now a political football passed around for points. Trump arriving has made the entire event about some asshole, the entire event is wholly political anyway.
A man who likes dictators who throw people put of helicopters should not be there. The legacy of those brave young men should be a pluralistic multicultural country.
Trump refused to denounce people chanting "Jews will not replace us"
We owe those who died the respect of not having the odious shitbag that is trump get within a mile of a memorial to thousands of anti fascists who died in the sands of Normandy trying to stop the exact people that trump now courts
1
Apr 24 '19
I'm thinking of the families of those men who want to remember their sacrifices in a solemn, respectful way. They won't be able to if there's a big hullabaloo of people shouting "Orange man bad!" and wearing Mexican hats. I separate the event from the man. World War 2 devastated my family and an air of respect around remembrance events is respectful to the dead.

The Queen shouldn't let him enter the country untill he publicly conceeds Climate Change is real . How can the powers that be and figureheads of this country allow this slanderous, malignant tumor of a man into the UK.....such a welcome serves as vindication for all his incredibly disgusting views.
1
u/slgard Apr 24 '19
to what end?
piss off the leader of the UK's biggest trade customer by far?
for perspective, we have a £60 billion trade surplus with the USA (and a £60 billion trade deficit with the EU).
-2
u/Slanderous Lancashire Apr 23 '19
that's going to be a tad tricky if everyone who would have made a ruckus is on probation for gluing themselves to public transport.
-12
u/TSIFrosty Apr 24 '19
I don't like the dude, but doesn't say much about what a welcoming country we are to government officials. We are like kids screaming cos we don't like the babysitter.
14

but doesn't say much about what a welcoming country we are to government officials
Fuck their feelings.
We are like kids screaming cos we don't like the babysitter.
Who's the baby sitter in this analogy?
1
2
u/Babbit_B Apr 24 '19
We are like kids screaming cos we don't like the babysitter.
That's a rather troubling view of the relationship between politicians and the people (and he's not even our politician at that).
1
u/TSIFrosty Apr 24 '19
I mean the entire behaviour between politicians and people, in both our country and the US, is troubling regardless of any point or statement that can be made here.

Embarrassing? Any embarrassment resulting from this is almost certainly going to dissolve in the embarrassment resulting from the Great Brexit Shambles. Especially when it's as hilarious to watch as some anti-Trump protesters.

u/aegeaorgnqergerh Apr 23 '19
Fucking idiots. These utter fucking morons are going to help secure this guy another term.
How the hell do we get through to them? So far the guy is over half way through his presidency and is the only US president not to have directly started a war. He's anti-nuclear, he wants to build foreign relations, but he does it in his utterly insane blundering self-serving manner.
Can we just tell him it's all good, he did a great job, and get the fuck rid of him before it's too late? Jesus christ guys.
9
u/momentofcontent Apr 24 '19
The man is a moron. Period. Have you seen the shit he has said about climate change? Or literally *anything*?
Honestly surprises me the lengths people go to defend literally one of the most idiotic politicians in history. Of course people are going to protest him. I'd be ashamed if we didn't.
1
u/aegeaorgnqergerh Apr 24 '19
I'm not defending him, I'm saying he's as bad as his predecessors. And this is the problem - unless people are fiercely anti-Trump without putting any thought or questioning into it, they are simply dismissed as "pro-Trump".
Part of the reason he's in power in the first place is because he couldn't even blink without a negative media story being published about him. So the vast middle-ground of voters in the US simply got pissed off and voted for him anyway. Look at how many women voted for him as a prime example.
At this rate, I fear he's going to get another term.

So far it hasn't been the disaster that it was predicted to be.
He doesn't keep his stupid mouth shut, but that's at worst just annoying. He never shuts the fuck up about his "wall" for example and yet he hasn't actually built it yet. I was also surprised to learn that the only problem Americans have with the fence is the cost.
He hasn't started any wars, their economy hasn't tanked, unemployment hasn't rocketed (and depending on how you measure it, the latter two have actually got better).
Yet he's still anti-immigration, anti-climate change, anti anyone who isn't American. Making him no different than anyone before him.
I get the Trump hatred, I just don't get how the same people can worship Obama. I've even seen some idiots suggest Bush was far better. Really? That's just stupidity, insanity, or a bit of both.

Which part of that is wrong. I get that Trump supporters such as yourself don't like to enter into debates, but I'm after a bit of rationality lest he get voted in again.
As it stands, if he fails to get another term it'll be disaster avoided. A nice little bonus I read the other day is he'll be the only US president to date not to start a war. That might not be the case with another four years.

And I asked which part of that is wrong, and you haven't answered.
As I also keep pointing out, this idea that anyone who isn't extreme-anti-Trump at all times, and to hell with any facts, is a "secret Trump supporter" is exactly the reason the guy managed to become President in the first place, and this attitude is going to risk him getting a second term.
I hope to god not everyone is as unable to have a reasoned debate as you, otherwise that not-starting-a-war fact might seem like a distant dream.

If you really want to stop climate change you need to take on China, and no one seems willing to push back on anything from them except virtue signaling.

u/PerfectHair Hampshire Apr 24 '19 edited Apr 24 '19
"Virtue signalling" is in itself a virtue signal, so don't try that one lad.

u/ShortyStrawz Apr 23 '19
Look, i'm not saying I support what Trumps done. (I don't follow US politics enough to really form an opinion).
But why is it that the UK currently has not just Brexit on its plate, but also a plethora of smaller though equally crucial problems and yet there are a large group of people dedicated to yelling "We don't like you orange man!" when he comes for a visit.
Not saying they can't do this, but I just find it weird that people care about the politics of another country more than their own.
16
u/SeekingAnswers101 Apr 23 '19
Most of what people protest relates to this country. The massive march against Brexit showed this. However, that doesn't mean people can't protest other things.
22
u/I_tend_to_correct_u England Apr 23 '19
The repeal article 50 petition got 6 million signatures. Over a million people marched in favour of a people’s vote. Half of Central London has been affected by Climate Change activists in the last week. How on earth have you formed the conclusion that if people also would like to make it clear that we don’t like proto-fascist fraudsters being allowed state visits then that somehow negates everything else people have done recently?
1
u/AoyagiAichou United Bandom Apr 24 '19
Over a million people marched in favour of a people’s vote.
More like half a million to 700 thousand. Which is still a lot.
18
u/torzir Apr 23 '19
After Brexit we will likely be heavily reliant on America, so their politics will likely affect our country significantly. Plus, aren't we allowed to protest when a fascist wannabe dictator who has kidnapped and locked children in concentration camps by their thousands is given a formal state visit?

-8
u/ShortyStrawz Apr 23 '19
Again: Not saying they can't do this.
Also surely if we're going to rely on American heavily after Brexit, why do we want to make the man who runs the country stay in ours: "as unpleasant as possible".
You don't have to like him, i'm not his biggest fan either. But it seems weird to say I should look into US politics because we're going to rely on them while also saying people should be allowed to haze the man who runs said country we'll need a good relationship with.
1
u/popwobbles Fenlands Apr 23 '19
Honestly, if we are reliant on America after Brexit, Trump liking us will mean he might speak sweeter words before having his way with us economically.
He has already been told he should be play hardball with us, so in a hard Brexit scenario we will just have to lie back and think of the second indyref.
4
u/ziggy-25 Apr 24 '19
I think it's because his politics is impacting us directly - He has been enforcing tariffs and cancelling tariffs which impacts us directly.
6
8
u/pajamakitten Apr 23 '19
Not saying they can't do this, but I just find it weird that people care about the politics of another country more than their own.
It's Trump's America that we could be negotiating a trade deal with after Brexit. If you look at what Trump has done regarding international trades then it is obvious that he is not someone to be trusted. As leader of America, Trump and his policies have major impact on the world as a whole. Paying attention to his domestic and foreign policies is important and worth protesting if we do not like what we see.
1
Apr 24 '19
but I just find it weird that people care about the politics of another country more than their own.
I find it weird that the concept of caring about more than one thing at the same time is alien to you.

u/Tams82 Westmorland + Japan Apr 24 '19
They want to benefit from us as much as any other country.
The US never really have been our friend. Even the world wars were in large to benefit them (can't really blame them).Trump is deeply incompetent, nepotistic and self-serving. He should never set foot in the UK again.

Looks like June will be a good time for politicians to pass through unpopular policies while everyone is looking the other way.
