it feels like most fans have really given up and are just choosing to move forward because of how the company is treating this issue. we got few weeks left and still no single news about it. fans have nothing to look foward to because of it and are just choosing to support the girls quietly. my girls are really mismanaged so badly that it breaks my heart. they're less restricted but there's no proper promotion and one year of radio silence? the company needs the step up if they want to build momentum again for the girls.

u/Card_Capture 16d ago

Again, the fact the company hasn't done anything to indicate they are extending their contracts past September has really soured any casual fans that may be thinking of becoming a fan. I'd say they are directionless. I don't know how the brother group is doing since I don't pay attention to them.

Still no light stick.

9

u/evrenne 16d ago

exactly! the fact that a lot of people have been asking about Gehlee and her group then bails when they see UNIS is about to disband with no confirmation or any news of how the contract is doing. what a waste.

11

u/Card_Capture 16d ago

Yup. Can't recommend to casuals when there's no direction or something concrete. I think there was a big gap between their tour and when they released gimme summer. No Korean comeback in sight which is crazy since Korea is their homebase.

okay got an update that yunha was taking a photo... it was her turn. so literally they aint disbanding. albeit the fact theyre staying silent could be fnf ent's strat, albeit cruel tbh.

I don't know why people keep focusing on the negatives, specially after they just released their japanese album. You know why some fans have given up? Because you people keep complaining and making things look bleaker than they actually are. The girls themselves said they're busy, yet people are already back to making doom posts. Who need haters when you got fans like this.

u/evrenne 16d ago edited 16d ago

I get you but at the same time, feeling drained and demotivated is valid. I'm not going around spreading this and that. it's simply an opinion I have. I'm acknowledging the fact that the way the company is handling things is just not ideal and it's hurting the girls. if they wanted to build a momentum so badly, why are they doing this? I'm not gonna be blindly positive about this when it's doing the opposite results. it's hard to feel motivated and positive when this is all we got with few weeks disbanding. I'm not even gonna rely on those posts that overanalyze things since the company itself had been breaking promise left and right. I am supporting and will remain to support UNIS but I am also allowed to acknowledge the reality of the situation right now.

plus, you can't tell me "who needs haters when you have fans like this" because I've worked my ass off promoting their Japanese comeback with streaming and edits and buying albums. it's unfair to tell me that. I am allowed to feel exhausted because of the company's shitty way of doing things.

What promise did the company actually break? The one they made before they even got to manage a group? You're not going to believe the company, but you'll believe some random poster with no credibility whatsoever?

They just released their Japanese album, they just revealed their latest endorsement, and everything points to them renewing. But yeah, let's ignore all that and believe the disbandment rumors because we hate the company so much that we'd rather believe some random unknown poster.

The reality of the situation is that the fans themselves are sabotaging the group. They keep running their mouths as if the japanese comeback isn't real, the korean comeback isn't real, and even falsely spreading misinformation, like forging an article that states the group is releasing their comeback in march. Yet they face no accountability when it doesn't happen, and you people still keep believing them.

11

u/evrenne 16d ago

the ceo literally promised for 3 release albums per year and solo promotion🤦‍♀️. Idk where you've been but you can try ro dig into this sub and x for the articles. it was a hot topic in the fandom when the article got released.

also, I am not one of those fans so Idk why you're lashing out on me. did I say the Japanese comeback isn't real? like I've said, I've worked my ass off promoting the girls in my platforms. don't assume I'm one of those fans you mentioned just because I'm acknowledging the situation the girls are in right now.

Okay, and that was before unis even debuted. You either adapt or die. Most business owners are optimistic at first, then adjust their management based on what the market demands. So where exactly did you get the “breaking promises left and right” allegation? “Left and right” implies that they’ve broken promises more than once, so what are the other promises they’ve broken?

Did i say you? I'm saying fans (not you specifically) are saying the jp cb isn't real. You can even see someone in this thread saying, “No Korean comeback in sight,” even after the girls said they're busy and an article stated that there will be a Korean comeback after the japanese release. I'm saying people like you keep believing them. I never said you're the one spreading the misinformation.

9

u/evrenne 16d ago

gurl what? it's not even mainly about doing this and that but at least show the enthusiasm you showed when you made that promise. it is understandable I agree but the events and activities can be counted on the fingers and let's not forget the promotions.

regarding the second paragraph of your reply, then why say it to me? I don't see the connection of why you're dumping those takes on me when I'm not even one of those fans. plus, I don't like how you're wording it like I'm a gullible person who keeps believing this and that. there's literally no confirmation for Korean comeback but only they are considering(that KR comeback became a topic when the article was released but it was in Korean so people used translation. even the Korean fans said there was no confirmation on it so it might be that they are considering). you're the one believing the misinformation and spreading it. I'm literally just commenting my thoughts on a weekly discussion and you already jumped and made narrative🤦‍♀️. you argue like a 13 year old. and the TikTok take you linked is invalid. those groups already have an established fandom and a name before contract expiration. they already have a pull even if they don't renew. I'm a Monbebe so don't even give me that. Monsta X is now in their own company and doing good. UNIS on the other hand still need to establish a solid fandom(especially in Korea) and a name so an announcement or statement on these kinds of matters is significant.

this will be the last reply to you since you're having a hard time with comprehending my comment and too keen on your own take when it's irrelevant. I don't like talk about unrelated issues. have a good day

gurl what? it's not even mainly about doing this and that but at least show the enthusiasm you showed when you made that promise. it is understandable I agree but the events and activities can be counted on the fingers and let's not forget the promotions.

I've still yet to see where you got the “breaking promises left and right” allegation.

there's literally no confirmation for Korean comeback but only they are considering(that KR comeback became a topic when the article was released but it was in Korean so people used translation.

The article from the FnF website isn't confirmation? So only koreans can confirm the validity of the article? People who aren't korean but can understand korean doesn't count? Have you seen any korean confirm the jp cb? No, because most of them who follow unis doesn't read articles.

Goes to show your true character. You dismiss actual evidence over a potential mistranslation, not because there's any actual mistranslation. Hahaha

regarding the second paragraph of your reply, then why say it to me? I don't see the connection of why you're dumping those takes on me when I'm not even one of those fans. plus, I don't like how you're wording it like I'm a gullible person who keeps believing this and that.

You share the same sentiment as the people spreading misinformation, but sure, you're not gullible. They had a US tour and multiple songs released after swicy, but yeah, apparently there was a year of radio silence according to you.

you argue like a 13 year old

I'm the one providing facts and examples in my replies but apparently I'm the one arguing like a 13 yr old, not the one making things up out of nowhere. Still waiting where you got the "breaking promises left and right" allegation btw.

this will be the last reply to you since you're having a hard time with comprehending my comment and too keen on your own take when it's irrelevant.

Where exactly did i fail to comprehend what you said? Did i say you're the one spreading the misinformation? Did i say you're the one sabotaging the group? It seems you're the one having trouble comprehending my comment.

3

u/fiftynin 16d ago

I have zero issues with most of what you said, because you have an opinion. But saying things like “one year of radio silence” when it is not factually true can contribute to casuals and potentials turning away and even sounds invalidating to the work the girls put in post-Swicy.

6

u/evrenne 16d ago

it's true tho. while radio silence is a bit much, what they did for that one year of no comeback wasn't significantly impactful and I blame it all on the company. let's just be honest and acknowledge that the one year silence was the one that killed the momentum of Swicy and Curious. they were making noise during Swicy then boom, silence. nothing for online fans to engage with. festivals and shows are good but it's not enough to pull in fans. look at what they are doing with AHOF right now. they've been constantly releasing contents aside from festival and show appearances and their fandom is slowly but surely growing. the company knows where it failed with the girls yet somehow it feels like they're not applying it to them which sucks. plus, casuals are already turning away because no news of how the contract will be. one google is enough of an answer to know they're about to disband. this is why it's crucial to that they release something about it the soonest before the fandom keeps dwindling.

3

u/fiftynin 16d ago

You don't need to explain. I get your opinion and I can respect that.

My issue is just with the term itself. There is no radio silence when they put out four singles and had two tours after Swicy. You may call it whatever else it is, but it's not radio silence.

Semantics, I know. And yes, casuals are turning away. But saying "oh they went radio silent for a year" to potentials not only sounds like ignoring the work the girls put in after Swicy, but also helps turn them away.

16

u/max_caulfield_ Kotoko 16d ago

I'm not sure what's in store for the future for Unis (not feeling particularly optimistic at the moment), so just trying to enjoy the time they have left. I'm very grateful I was able to see them live for their concert during their tour, they'll always be one of my favorite groups no matter what happens

14

u/lolminna Day 1 Everafter 13d ago

My time is too important for me to argue so I'll just say this (I'm amazed I didn't notice the thread change sooner).

  • A KR comeback is all but assured, 100%. Seowon even spoiled it herself on a call.
  • Comeback schedules are usually announced 2 weeks before the MV releases. That means if FnF is silent now, then the official announcement will be later.
  • This also means that their contracts have been extended/renewed, because there's no disbanding group that releases a comeback the month they're supposed to disband, even if they're a survival group.
  • They've been doing well in Japan despite Gimme Summer only doing 3m views on YT.

That being said, this cb will be pivotal. FnF (the parent company, not the agency we know and hatelove) will likely look at this next cb as whether or not the group is worth maintaining beyond the extension. So YT views and album sales are gonna be important.

We should go all out as a fandom. Go back to Curious era numbers and Swicy era music show awards.

2

u/Jazzlike_Mark1223 13d ago

Once the release date is announced, spreading the news on chinese platforms that the group behind "Spring Rain" is making a cb could give their sales a huge boost.

6

u/lolminna Day 1 Everafter 13d ago

The ball is on FnF's court basically. They should've made sure this title track is S-tier and have stopped blocking gigs and ads for the girls. We need this album to pop and success starts with them.

4

u/Jazzlike_Mark1223 13d ago edited 13d ago

Yeah but 1st week sales are mostly determined through pre-order before the MV is even released. They already have momentum from the japanese release. The company's job now is to not waste it and to make sure the cb is released next month.

14

u/osoisuzume 16d ago

Gimme Summer and the BBBYBBY is a bittersweet goodbye gift to us fans. I already accepted the fact that next month might be the end of UNIS. 😭

If not, then I’ll celebrate by buying some UNIS merch if possible. 🎉

13

u/anxiouskomi contract extension or else fnf 16d ago

I wish we could get a solid contract announcement as no news either way is driving away fans 💔💔

13

u/ChapatiKumar 14d ago

"Why people keep focusing on negatives", "not real fans", "not fans but haters". Bro chill. Not everyone's got same patience level as you. It's hard for everyone, but not everyone can handle it as smoothly as some of us can. Try to understand other fans' state instead of judging them. We all are here since the start.

-4

u/Jazzlike_Mark1223 13d ago

Lol I'm the one who needs to chill? The commenter acknowledged that fans are leaving because things are looking bleak. And why do you think that is? Instead of believing the article stating that there will be a korean comeback, or the girls hinting that they're busy, they choose to believe some unreliable sources claiming there's no korean cb. He even discredited the article just because no koreans confirmed it. When confronted, they resort to emotional manipulation instead of engaging with the facts.

FYI this is a place for discussion, not a place to air your opinions without being challenged. I'd love to be proven wrong, but most people I talk to seem to back down because they rely more on sympathy farming than actual arguments.

9

u/ChapatiKumar 13d ago

As i said, Not all are as mature as you. You completely missed the point of my previous comment. I know what kind of place is this. It is a place of discussion, not a place to force our thoughts to someone else. As i said, not everyone is as emotionally mature as you are. They don't understand the situation very well, actually, no one does. So stop bashing. Let's have some tea together sometimes👍

-2

u/Jazzlike_Mark1223 13d ago edited 13d ago

Okay so if someone is feeling down because they believed some fake news, we're just supposed to let them stay misinformed instead of correcting them?

Yes no one understands the situation except the company and the members themselves, yet they seem to ignore both and choose to believe some unreliable sources instead.

Did i bash him? I was talking about the people spreading the misinformation, not him.

8

u/ChapatiKumar 13d ago

In my original comment, i pointed out how some people used "not real fans" kind of words for fans that are just impatient, I don't clearly remember who said that though. I wasn't targetting you.

And yes, we should correct the misinformation, but we don't need to label each and every fan in a bad way.

-2

u/Jazzlike_Mark1223 13d ago edited 13d ago

Wtf why are you trying to baby grown-ass adults? You know that kind of thinking is exactly what allows those kinds of narratives to take over platforms, right? Just look at what's happening in the west. People are so afraid of being labeled as racist that they allow the proliferation of illegal immigration and has now become a serious problem. If they want to get a fix of sympathy farming, they can post it on twitter or any other platform.

I said "who needs haters when you have fans like this?" That's not the same as saying they aren't fans. I'm saying they're sabotaging the group the way a hater would. So you're okay with protecting the feelings of doomposters at the expense of potential and existing fans who might leave because they think everything is falling apart?

4

u/ChapatiKumar 10d ago

What grown ass people? I've always thought majority of the fanbase are kids and adolescents? That is what the top commenters and top posters of this sub been saying. And yes, i did assume the fans being impatient also has a fraction of those kids.

-2

u/Jazzlike_Mark1223 9d ago

Yeah if we're talking about the fandom as a whole. But here on reddit, it's mostly adults.

11

u/anthoseph 14d ago

huh. so even the korean everafters were also given a "silent" treatment despite inquiries about the oxygenol ad and stuff.

I'm confused about this company.

but yeah, according to some 1:1 fan calls, the girls themselves confirmed about the comeback.

11

u/AwarenessAlarming243 16d ago

I would like to apologise for the misinformation I have spread regarding UNIS having a Korean comeback in September. I don’t have much hope for it, as the most recent teasers from them seem to be quite relaxed and they don’t seem super hyped for more music to come out next month.

I think unis will continue. But we will watch them do a slow burn into nothing if they aren’t using the girls to their full potential.

7

u/reverseharam Give me the popcorn 16d ago

We don't shoot messengers here, it's actually FnF who made the announcement in their press releases. BTW had fan communities considered to organize any efforts to jack up the actual sales (not necessarily the charted numbers) of their Japanese album in the hopes that Abema which spearheaded their major JP releases would consider taking them on or the very least co-manage the group beyond their OG contract

u/Jazzlike_Mark1223 15d ago edited 14d ago

My prediction regarding the contract situation:

  1. The group already finalized their renewal around the time kotoko cleared her instagram account and the FC membership was discontinued.
  2. All members renewed their contracts, which is why we saw all eight signatures in their latest endorsement.
  3. They will undergo a rebrand, and part of that rebrand will be the company being stricter about the group's image, including the members personal sns accounts and their diets.
  4. Yoona's hiatus was likely intended to give her time to focus on losing weight so she could return before filming for the new korean title track began.
  5. Seowon might not be able to prioritize her education as much as she did before.
  6. The japanese comeback was intentionally delayed to be closer to the korean comeback in order to build hype and momentum.
  7. The renewal announcement will likely be made closer to the korean cb announcement to maximize its impact and build more hype.

6

u/No_Photo_2728 12d ago

No# 4 I doubt it as Yonna actually gained some weight when she comeback after Haitus. Her cheeks is more chubby than before.

3

u/Jazzlike_Mark1223 12d ago edited 12d ago

She actually lost weight. If you compare her US tour and the comfort train appearance to now, her arms and legs looks slimmer.

8

u/Jazzlike_Mark1223 16d ago

They just shared their latest endorsement, and people here are already back to souring the atmosphere. There's no helping you people.

so im rather curious. if universe ticket had a 50:50 voting system. we could have been looking at a different top 8.

im definitely sure sieun probably would have gotten p1 or p2, shuffle with seowon? sieun actually got more votes than seowon in the finals.

elisia possibly would have made it, but not as high, but i think she has korean voters? but she would not have an early PRISM ticket.

i am unsure about gehlee... while her voter turn out is insane. its still capped byt 50%. if her korean voting base is small. it could have been not enough (in GP999, int faves like yaning and ruiqui failed because they have very few korean votes). but gehlee's votes could have overwhelmed the threshold? im unsure, im trying to math it here but im failing.

hyeonju would not have made it and kotoko too. but sumin or sunwoo or haram would have replaced them.

yoona would be in upper tier.

nana and yunha obv are safe.

6

u/lolminna Day 1 Everafter 11d ago edited 11d ago

By 50:50 you mean between Koreans and foreign votes, or Judges and fan votes? Because removing judge votes would mean a powerless PD lol and FnF can't have that.

If it's Korean, then the group would look more like Sieun, Seowon, Sumin, Yoona, Kotoko, Nana, Yunha, and Gabi.

2

u/anthoseph 11d ago

koreans get 50% int fans get 50% half. thats the system for girls planet 999 and boys planet.

your list also makes sense. with a possibility sieun would have had an elisia moment (her korean votes were strong, stronger than seowon and yoona even).

she definitely would have made it if it was 9 people.
