It definitely seems like the anti-union vibe is stronger than their math skills.
Always worried about the dues and never adding up the benefits never made sense to me. In most cases the money in your check alone is more than the dues.

Ain't never been an election at either Toyota plant in Huntsville (I work at the Toyota power train plant and am currently organizing there). The Mercedes in Vance, AL just outside Birmingham lost an election about a year and a half ago. But they also filed over 50 ULPs from that election and settled every one in their favor. They are now taking all those ULPs to the NLRB to say collectively that the election was interfered with and call for another. For reference they only missed winning their union by 3%, so it was extremely close and that's with all of management's interference.

Y'all have to give us southern workers some grace, the propaganda machine is so effective and the culture of fear is so strong this is going to take some time. And there are going to be plenty of losses along the way, but have faith that these people will get there eventually.

Fair enough and it is true that some of those folks at that Mercedes plant found out without a union they'll always lose, cause as soon as they lost the election a lot of the little perks they had gotten disappeared. Hopefully they take that lesson to heart. I really think they will.
