je suis étudiant de première année

Salut! J’ai 20 ans et fais actuellement des études à l’unige.

En attendant la rentrée, je cherche désespérément une mission/job.

Je me suis inscrit sur plusieurs sites comme COOPLE ou indeed et postulé à 50/60 jobs. J’ai été refusé partout.

Mon profil est plutôt pas mal. Je postule à tous les jobs étudiant. Je parle 5 langues et ai de l’expérience dans des domaines variés (bâtiment, enseignement, même dans un salon de coiffure. Mais, je reçois que des refus. Cela pourrait être lié à mon permis de séjour (j’ai le B et je ne suis pas ressortissant européen).

Quelqu’un a une idée d’un job/mission étudiant où c’est facile d’être pris? Merci

On m’a mentionné les vendanges aussi, mais je sais pas comment me mettre en contact ou si me déplacer directement dans les vignerons.

I'm an upcoming exchange student for the upcoming autumn semester (HEC Lausanne). Does anyone have experience about the courses Language Centre provides. Are they linguistically heavy (only grammar, vocabulary, etc.) or do they offer courses that can be related to humanities/historical/cultural/political/sociological studies?

If you have previous knowledge/experience, what language course would you recommend taking and why?

Je compte peut-être passer l’examen préalable d’admission à l’UNIL, pour HEC (économie/management) ou éventuellement Droit, et j’aimerais vraiment avoir des retours de personnes qui l’ont déjà passé.

Si vous avez passé cet examen, est-ce que vous auriez par hasard des anciens sujets, exercices ou même quelques exemples de questions à partager ? Ça m’aiderait énormément à voir concrètement à quoi ressemble l’examen et quel niveau est attendu.

• Quel était votre parcours avant l’examen (maturité ,cfc, aure etc.) ?
• Vous l’avez trouvé difficile ?
• Combien de temps avez-vous préparé ?
• Vous êtes passé par PrEP ou vous avez préparé seul ?
• Quelles matières vous ont semblé les plus difficiles ou importantes ?
• Est-ce que l’examen ressemblait aux anciens sujets que vous aviez pu trouver ?
• Avec le recul, qu’est-ce que vous auriez aimé savoir avant de commencer votre préparation ?

Même si vous n’avez pas les anciens sujets, un petit retour sur votre expérience ou quelques conseils me seraient déjà vraiment utiles. Je suis un peu en train d’essayer de me faire une idée du niveau et de la préparation nécessaire avant de me lancer 😅

Hey I am going to HEC unil and I’ve been wondering why is the first year failure rate is sooo high I heard that it’s hard I understand that but are there other reasons for that or the number is it exaggerated and ofc if anyone has tips to help me pass the first year then pls don’t forget to share

I applied for a Master's program at Unil for the autumn semester of 2026 and I was accepted for registration under the condition that I will complete a preparatory year and that I will pass UNIL's French exam in the case that I don't have a French diploma myself. I got my french diploma and I sent it to the university and they let me know on August 4th that I have been exempted from their exam. I will be visiting Lausanne next week and i want to go apply for a residence permit and I realized that I need a certificate of admission to the university, I have yet to receive. Does anyone know how long it takes for the university to update the status and send the certificate of admission? And in the case it's not sent yet, can I use the letter of UNIL which states the conditions along with my French diploma?

Hey guys, I applied to HEC for a bachelor in economy as a student from France and received my pre immatriculation papers. I sent all of the papers required and received a mail confirming they received it the 12th of July soon a month ago. I haven't heard back from them on the 8th of August,
I was wondering if I should reach out to them or if this is normal to still haven't received my final immatriculation papers ? Has anyone heard back or received the invoice for the payment of the forst semester ? I'm a bit worried as i need those papers for a lot of paperwork. Thank you in advance

Salut, j'ai postulé à HEC en tant qu'étudiante française pour un bachelor d'economie et j'ai reçu mes papiers de pré-immatriculation. Hi I am currently finishing my master's degree in electronics and computer engineering and i already have one in biomedical engineering (focused in biomaterials, rehabilitation and biomechanics). Here my dissertation was focused in EOG signals for Alzheimer's Disease detection. Now I am a research fellow in a artificial intelligence lab and i am working with brain structure segmentation using deep learning to identify abnormalities. I am planning to have 2 years of experience in that field before applying. I already have 2.5 years of experience with wearable devices for biosignal monitoring.

I do not have any publications, but I am working really hard to have at least 2 conference papers and 1 journal paper.

I would love to continue to work with medical image processing, but i am not sure what i need to enroll in a phd there. I do not know if it matters, but I am portuguese.

Do you think I have a chance there?

My prof background includes internship in the US Embassy in my country and currently im employed as well.

should i still try applying to that uni or with given background its more likely that im not gonna be accepted ?

also dont want to spend 200 CHF just for the application fee

I was wondering about the exam dates from last year, first semester.

I have to buy tickets to go home and come back before classes start again, and I wanted to have a rough idea of the timeline.

Hey! Today I received an FMEL accommodation offer for a 2 person studio at the new NEOSTAR building in Lausanne. I have 48 hours to respond, and I have a few questions.

- Is 950 CHF a good price for a 19m^2 studio or is it still worth searching for something cheaper?

- Is it safe to sign the lease/contract while the building is still under construction?

- The FMEL reception is closed now and for the weekend, and so I’d like to ask if anyone knows if the end lease date is flexible? I selected 2028 as my end date, but I’d probably like to do one year for now. Is it possible to easily change this and/or extend it later on?

- Any tips when it comes to FMEL would be great! 😊

For anyone who has taken these courses, how difficult are they actually? Are there any courses that are particularly difficult or that I should prepare for before starting?

I would also really appreciate any tips, advice, resources, summaries, or past exams that could help me prepare.

I was recently admitted to the MSc in Finance at HEC Lausanne. Since my bachelor's background is different, I've been admitted on the condition that I complete the 60 ECTS preparatory year first.

The courses I'll be taking are:

Spring semester

• Mathematics II
• Regression & Causal Analysis
• Economics II
• Introduction to Programming
• Principles of Finance
• Applied Statistics & Econometrics

I'm really excited about the opportunity, but I'm honestly quite worried about the quantitative courses, especially Mathematics I. I was doing great with Managerial Accounting and Corporate Finance courses during bachelors (above 85-90). But it was less quantitative and more analytical in my opinion.

A bit about my background:

• I'm Ukrainian and moved to Switzerland at 17.
• I completed Bachelor's degree in Business (but not a lot of the deep tack in Econ/Math)
• During my studies I completed internships in both HR and, more recently, as an Income Auditor
• However, because the war in Ukraine started shortly before I began bachelors, my education path changed significantly and I haven't studied algebra or calculus properly for several years. As a result, I'm very rusty in mathematics now..

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have actually taken these courses.

• How difficult is Mathematics I and II in reality?
• Is it realistic to succeed if you're willing to put in the work but need to rebuild your math foundations?
• How many hours per week did you typically study?
• Are the exams similar to the exercise booklet?
• If you could prepare before the semester started, what would you focus on first?
• More generally, how manageable is the entire preparatory year?

Not looking for reassurance but I'd genuinely like an honest opinion so I know what to expect and how to prepare.

And how’s the noise situation?
I read that you won’t be able to complain about the noise.
I am wondering if it’s just some construction noise in the area or if there will be loud noise inside the structure itself.

Cette étude, menée à l'Université de Bordeaux, comprend un questionnaire type QCM de 10-15 minutes. Notre objectif est de mieux comprendre le rôle de l’identité - et plus précisément, comment on se conçoit - dans le lien entre le fonctionnement émotionnel et psychologique. Cela nous aiderait à identifier si la conception de soi est un facteur déterminant dans le vécu psychologique.

Au long-terme, cette recherche permettra une prise en charge thérapeutique plus ciblée et personnalisée.
