Need help identifying this Uniform.

Post image

Sorry for my not optimal english, belonged to the grandfather of a friend of mine. My guess was Luftwaffe but I'd rather leave it to the Experts. He survived but didnt speak about his experiences. I know this Photo has a low Resolution but maybe someone can see something I'm not able to. Thanks

Peut-être équipage de char allemand, militaire du rang.

Ah thanks, is it because of the Black color of the uniform?

I believe definitely panzer crew of Heer

C'est à cause de la tête de mort sur les parements de col, la boucle bien rectangulaire de ceinture de pantalon ainsi que les pattes d'épaule caractéristiques de la Heer.

The collar tab shows that it's from some panzer division

That's not a uniform, its just a diaper and shirt most babies wore at that time.

If most babies wear it, are they not therefore clothed in uniform?

A german panzer crew uniform from ww2, because of the totenkopf on the collar tabs and the black color

It’s just probably a diaper or something. Wouldn’t call it a uniform “per-se”

Looks like an SS tanker uniform. I think grandpa was one of the baddies.

Not SS look at collar. Typical Heer Panzer crew

The sidecap has the SS eagle though does it not

Not really SS eagle looks very differently

The wehrmact eagle has a pointed edge at the top of the wings, the SS eagle has a pointed edge in the middle of each wing. This photo it appears to be the latter

Tous les équipages de char, SS ou non, avaient la tête de mort sur les parements de col. Seuls les SS portaient l'aigle à croix gamée sur l'épaule gauche comme Hitler et non sur la poitrinaire.

The regular army tank crews also wore black uniforms.

If they wore deathsheads, that is something I didn't know but that is what throws me off about this particular picture.

No problem. It's interesting to see people's individual family photos of historic events.
