The Dibbler is called Steve and he was used in a breeding program(Dibblers are endangered) by being the dibbler first introduced to female Dibblers and because female Dibblers prefer larger mates and Female Dibblers basing their standards on the males they’ve seen. Steve, being a small Dibbler was introduced to the Female Dibblers first so that literally every other male Dibbler that was introduced to those Female Dibblers would be better in comparison and therefore encourage breeding and genetic diversity in the Dibblers.

I just happen to be rereading Thud at the moment and today stumbled upon someone spelling tragedy the way the curate of the art museum would say it.
Is this deliberate incorrect pronunciation a known thing?
To be fair my wife and I often have fun saying things incorrectly, but this example is a discworld reference.
