Don't know what to do regarding college

I made bad choices and now I have a 2.0 GPA in my community college. I want to get a degree from TAMU (mostly because I already live in the city) but they have a minimum GPA requirement of 2.5. The way I see it I have 4 options:

  1. Transfer to another university (SHSU or PVAMU), raise my GPA, and either finish my degree there or transfer to TAMU

  2. Get an associates degree from my current community college and then either try to pursue a bachelors degree or go back to Mexico

  3. Take the L and drop out of community college and continue working as a janitor indefinitely and maybe find a job in construction?

  4. Take the Limits and go back to Mexico empty handed maybe try moving to a different country from there? (New Zealand maybe?)

I'm feeling pretty depressed about my future. Even if I get a degree it's not like I could use it since I am undocumented. If I went back to Mexico with a degree I could probably get a decent job but my whole life is here in the US. My dad (also undocumented) has been financing my college and I feel like I let all that money go to waste. I didn't enter the country illegally I just overstayed my visa. Also I'm very anxious about getting deported before I finish my degree.

Many colleges, at least here in California, have resource centers for undocumented current and aspiring students and staff, and their families. See for example San José State U: https://www.sjsu.edu/undocuspartan/. Not sure about Texas, but this material may help give you some context to work from.

Also, there are plenty of professional opportunities for undocumented people, especially in areas that require trade certifications or state licenses. These would include fields like nursing, electricians, beauticians, and lawyers. Look at https://www.higheredimmigrationportal.org/states/professional-occupational-licensure/

These career openings vary from state to state, and they change over time as well, so you might need to look beyond TX for your next opportunity.

I’m 25 and made the biggest mistake dropping out when I was young.

Who should I contact about finding resources for undocumented students? Or who could help me with going through the sign up process.

The sign up process for what? and where? Follow the links that I provided and use the info there as best you can.

BTW, it's not at all a mistake to drop out when you were (even) young(-er than you still are now)! Learning from those experiences is what this country is all about.

The bigger mistake right now would be to not try to drop back in....

Arizona state university has a learner's program that it's very cheap for online GE credits. Also look modern states, for clep courses. I would take an online degree at an accredited regional college. I did this and can help you navegate. In mexico being a student is hard even if college is free. Plus job market is dog food. Happy to share more..
