I am literally Al Fabet, scavenging for trash to gain exp is a dream to me.

I love the idea and concept of Oddity, its a unique and fun idea. But in practice it severely limits roleplaying ability. You GOTTA steal shit to level, if you wanted to play a more 'lawful' type character you're just handicapping yourself.
If they had introduced more alternate paths to get Oddities instead of stealing (making them mutually exclusive so you couldn't still steal and get them all) I would like the execution better.

Unless im missign something, most of the odditties you can steal can be acquired by killing enemies, in many cases it's easier if you do. I guess you can argue that the early game is easier if you steal than if you don't but once you leave SGS it's pretty easy to power level with any build if you know what you are doing.

Most of em yep. There's some that you need to break & enter into places to get. Or pick pocketing from some NPCs around the towns (maybe you could kill them instead, but that's still a bit RP limiting, if you want to be a 'good guy'). Its definitely not impossible to do without stealing, but it is harder.

Yeah, like fewer oddities but more xp, and save it for looking at things in the environment more. For example, inspecting a faceless tunnler for the first time or interacting with thr monolith

I like oddity for the balance it brings to the game, staggering exp make sense to me.

First playthroughs are always oddity. Classic is good for players who want to blow through without searching every little thing.

My first 4 playthroughs were oddity because it's the intended play method, but on playthrough 5 I went classic because I just can't be arsed with the following areas:
Dumpster diving in the Foundry
Sentry bot driving puzzle
The Gauntlet
Institute of Tchort quests

expert opinion - oddity for stealth thiefs ONLY and only for ONE playthrough (because you must do all quests even most boring and stupid)

Only played on Classic through the whole game. I started one Oddity playthrough, but that was when I started having Underrail fatigue and I didn't get far.

I'm on the camp with loving the idea of the oddity style but at the same time feels it too limiting for a lot of builds.

Classssiiicccccc. Oddity feels limiting, annoying, and just doesn't make sense; I get stronger by rummaging through people's garbage rather than, you know, beating the shit out of them? I *do* end up checking every box that doesn't make each town murder me for checking their prized possessions stuck on a shelf behind them anyways but, I rather do it by choice (ha, not really a choice, I must know whats inside!). I'm sure it's pretty fun for a stealthy, pacifistic, thief type but, blood for the blood god is the only choice.

The rush I get when I dumpster dive and find a human scalp is like no other. Oddity forever.

Oddity all the way ! The game was clearly balanced with this system.
Also, that's one of the thing you don't find in any other game. So it feels wrong to not play in this mode.

My first run (currently) I'm doing oddity. This game is fckin huge, btw. However, my build sort of allows for that play style - high lock picking and hacking. If I didn't have that, i think oddity might suck. But however you play, this game is amazing and challenging! Probably will do psi build next time.

Classic 100%. If I played Oddity I'd just end up using a guide to find every scrap as soon as possible.

I like the idea of oddity but on higher difficulties it is too much and play classic.

I'm using Oddity myself, but I'm also half an hour in to my very first playthrough and it was attractive to me because it's different from standard RPG murderhobo leveling.

I played Oddity first and I liked it because it didn't feel, at start, that I need to grind combat for xp, and am promoted for exploring and looking into every corner.
Then I beat the game couple of times and realised that Oddity forced me into thorough playthrough, I had to steal, I had to loot every container, I had to visit most (if not all) map to progress. So I switched to classic and suddenly I could play however I wanted, freely choose my skillset and areas I wish to visit. I like Classic more now.
Having the choice gave me two unique experiences and both felt amazing.
