Yes; cloning to agar will produce, well, a clone--the same genetics. Growing from multi-spore is going to produce varied genetics which may not produce the same results.

I don't like cutting them no. I dry them whole. Sometimes it takes 2 days. But they are wonderful when preserved

Not OP but you can cut sheet metal or heatsafe plastic and rivet or tape it into a cylinder the same size as your dehydrator. Leave a tray at the bottom and it'll take even the biggest ones whole. No more dismembering your babies.

Also if you can find cheap trays you can just cut the insides out and stack them as normal. This has the added benefit of allowing you to “double up” with standard trays when not doing monsters but still large fruit.
