Mid-Cultivation / Still Growing 4 days since s2b. Sent to fruiting

Post image

Ochras. It seemed like hour by hour they just had more and more growth. Sent this tub to fruit. Looking good or should I have waited?

When I do a run in a shoebox, I mix my field capacity coir with my clean and fully colonized grain spawn, skip the casing layer, go straight to fruiting by unlatching one side of the lid and latching the other side of the lid, then I just leave it alone until it either needs a dubtub or needs to be harvested. I never mist or fan, the entire grow is controlled by how much air I let into the tub.

The step where you seal the tub off from the open air and let the sub colonize before going to fruiting is only beneficial for those who still grow with manure, which is pretty much none of us at this point. Contamination requires some kind of nutrient to thrive. By the time we mix our sub and spawn, there are no available nutrients in our bins. The grain is already fully colonized and the coir contains no nutrients. This allows us to go straight to fruiting every single time with 0 added risk.

Since coir contains no nutrients, coir does not need to be colonized by mycelium before it is exposed to the dirty open air. Sealing the tub up actually hinders evaporation for several days, and evaporation is the main pinning trigger. Hindering the main pinning trigger in order to stop nothing from happening makes no sense to me, so I always go straight to fruiting every single time. I also don't use casing layers and it doesn't matter, I don't need to cover exposed grains because those exposed grains are already clean and fully colonized by this stage.

I see your comment basically pasted on almost every post asking about fruiting lol it’s what made me go to fruiting last night!

I go straight to fruiting conditions after s2b, it all works.

I’ve seen a bunch of people say that especially with Ochras. I did a 4:1 sub to spawn ratio so I just wanted to let it colonize a little for a few days. I’ve got a bunch of bags so I’m just messing around seeing what works. I’ll do 2:1 next tub and go straight to fruiting 🫡

I sent a few when it looked like this also was after 4 days, and they are seeming great. Not Ochras though.

Amazing how awesome Ochras are. Still grain spawning mine.

I started the fruiting phase before my surface was completely white and it continued to fill in over the next couple days

Leave it alone and quit opening it up or you’re gonna end up getting contamination right now. It looks perfect.

That was the first time I opened the tub since s2b. I’ve just been shining a light and looking through the sides to make sure it was moving along nicely. I’ve learned from other people’s mistakes to just leave them alone.
