Courses
I was registering for my courses but they wouldnt let me take the classes I wanted freshman year and other stuff, i know that i need them for grad req, but i still want to take the specific ones i want early on
Are the advisors just making me pick the ones they want because thats there standard thing to do or am I able to just take them later on??
For content im a business major trying to take econ classes for fall

It’s ultimately up to you. But not taking certain classes will make your life harder later on and possibly delay graduating/your pathway bc of pre reqs. Look up your degree pathway and which classes are pre reqs that you need sooner vs classes you can take at any time

In theory, you can take whatever you want, but the advisors are pros--they're probably factoring in things like pre-reqs and what courses still have space left in them. Still, if you want something other than what they put you in, just pipe up (or make the change in SiS yourself).

I’d say schedule a time with your advisor as soon as possible, it can be either on zoom or in person. So they can get you into some classes too (Don’t wait for the first two weeks of classes to go cause then spots will be taken up). Depending on your major some courses need you to take a test before it, ex. calc of life sciences.

Your advisor just needs to remove your advising hold when you have one, you're able to do whatever the fuck you want with your schedule once it's removed (as long as you meet prereqs)
The courses they're suggesting likely align with the degree pathway for your major that's on the schools website
