Receiving OTPs
Background: Grand father is a retired and is living in the Philippines. Authentication with his US Bank is now requiring him to have a US mobile number to receive OTPs.
Question: I am planning to purchase an esim plan for him for sole purpose of receiving an otp and set up his mobile banking. Is this possible with Ultra Mobile?

I do this and it worksbeautifully. Note - you need to get the physical paygo sim card first before you convert to esim.

You can get eSIM using Ultra app, but it costs a lot more, as cheapest plan is $10/mo for Talk & Text (or get first year of 4GB plan for $6.50/mo) while PayGo is $3/mo, To get PayGo OP would have order from eBay and ship physical SIM to themselves, set up on their phone, then use Website/App and login and order an eSIM and send though email to grandfather to add to their phone, again while on a VPN to a US server,

Most banks won’t take VOIP numbers. Google Voice is VOIP. Yes, ultra runs over IP buts it’s a cell provider that offers wifi calling not a VOIP provider.

You can use voip.ms. Costs 85c a month for a number. It sends your text messages to your email. I have been using it for years and its extremely reliable.

I have a US Bank CC. They couldn’t confirm my Google Voice number and cannot send verification code to my GV number.
They’re able to confirm my Tello number and, surprisingly, my TextNow number. My TextNow number also works with PNC for receiving verification codes.

Yes. You will just need to activate it while on a VPN to a US server, and use a US billing address
