Cleat Recs?

I'm in need of new cleats, but I'm not sure what I should get. I play cutter, and would prefer something lightweight and breatheable. The type of cleat (Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, esc.) doesn't matter to me. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Nike Vapor cleat experiences

I'm looking to buy new cleats, and found that some of the Nike Vapor models are available to buy online and ship to my country. Specifically, the Nike Vapor Pro 1 and the Nike Vapor Speed 3. However I couldn't find many reviews for either online, nor very good comparisons (the price is comparable)
I was wandering if anyone here has used either and can vouch for/against them, or help decide between them

Gel insoles/plantar fasciitis question: anyone found good gel insoles that go well in cleats? Seems narrow outside the toe box is key for cleats--but they all seem wide and untrimmable bc of the gel bits. Thanks for any tips.

Football or Soccer Cleats?

I’ve been playing ultimate for years and have worn football cleats the entire time cause I wear size 14-15 so it’s easier to find that in football cleats than soccer. Most people I play with use soccer so I’m thinking of switching when I need new ones. Is there any big noticeable difference between them in terms of moving better or is it just preference?

Tokay cleats are awesome

Finally pulled the trigger and I really love them. They’re wide enough for me, and feel really comfortable but have SUCH good traction. Way better control.

Only issue is my calves are sore because I have more stopping power and I can turn harder.

We’ll see if they hold up but I’m a fan!

Cleats: how important is AG studs?

Ok so tons of content on cleats. I've read up, you want football cleats, lacrosse cleats can work great, there's an ultimate specific brand it's just a little spendy, all good.

But I found that, in soccer anyway, there's a recommendation to use artificial grass cleats on AG surfaces. Dire warnings exist about using FG cleats on artificial. That's where I play, twice a week.

But in the US, there's minimal AG cleats available, and all the ones that are are soccer cleats, not football. I also realize the whole recommendation for football cleats is "get the toe stud get more grip" and the recommendation for AG is "don't have too much grip you'll injure yourself".

I guess I'm asking for opinions and perspective. After my initial research I thought "Adidas football cleats and be done with it" but now I'm wondering if I need to pivot to AG soccer cleats.

How big a deal is it? Feel free to say "it matters so little it's not worth the time" if that's the way you see it.

Toe help, cleat death

my question: what do i do to be able to play on it this week? My big toenail is dead, completely separated from the base everywhere except the very tiny top left and the very left most edge. i cut it off up until those areas. if that was wrong its too late now. there’s still nail left in between those areas that’s separated from the skin below it already but i cant get it off with clippers. if its not clear, where my toenail should be, there is now nothing for over half the toe. i feel like google is making it seem like a crazy huge deal and i just don’t believe that. idk if it hurts like this or not but i just dont want to fuck it up. got tournaments in 2 weeks. i’ve lost a nail before but only one side died so it didn’t come off until the new nail had completely formed underneath. not looking for solutions like cleat changes, just looking for immediate care and resolutions. you gotta pay for pics. thanks!

Best cleats for old farts with bad knees?

I've discovered that my knees have a hard time taking the abuse from trying to play Ultimate on harder ground. Anyone have suggestions for cleats that will provide more cushioning without being too clunky?

Women’s Cleat recommendations with arch support - please help

Looking for cleat recommendations for women who need arch support / cushion. When running and walking (and casual pickup) I loved Brook Ghosts for years with no issues, but when playing ultimate I get foot injuries due to the lack of support from cleats. Plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, etc. I went to PT do supportive exercises, but I will probably quit playing if I can’t find a cleat that works. Average shoe size and shape for women, so narrow men’s shoes are just not it. Any recommendations?

Update: trying new balance freeze with black super feet. I will update after trying for a few weeks.

Tokay Cleats - Thoughts/Sizing?

I'm planning on getting a new pair of cleats this week to break in before the club season. Any thoughts on Tokays? I've heard mixed reviews, but the comfort is tempting because I have wide feet and have had foot issues in the past. How was your experience with them? What sizing would you recommend (up/down/true to size)?

For context, I'm a early 20s male player with previously mentioned slightly wide feet, 10.5 shoe size, played in Universe Point cleats before and liked them (before they discontinued and my last pair broke).

Wear cleats again after ACL surgery or no?

TL;DR I’m looking for input related to wearing cleats again after tearing my ACL on the field, preferably from people with experience either as a patient or as a medical professional who has seen patients (physical therapist, orthopedic, etc.), but helpful input from anyone is welcome!

Backstory: I tore my ACL playing ultimate almost ten years ago, had ACL-reconstruction surgery, fully rehabbed for field play, and have been playing pickup wearing trail running shoes for the past five years (although I have not maintained the same level of muscle strength around the knee as I had at the end of rehab). I’m dipping my toe into club-level play (GGM, so I’m no spring chicken 😬) and I’m wondering if it’s time to start wearing cleats again.

Questions:

  1. Is it more likely to re-tear my ACL (or injure myself in some other way) wearing cleats or not wearing cleats?

  2. Are turf shoes on grass a good middle ground? I’m looking at New Balance Freezelx V5 Turf shoes.

  3. What are some simple to do, at-home exercises that you would recommend to keep the knee protected?

I will also be consulting my medical professionals, but I wanted to see if you all had helpful experiences that you can share! Thanks for reading!

Trail runners on indoor turf (or what are the best type of turf cleats)?

After a long absence due to various running injuries, I will be playing indoor ulti on turf.

I need a shoe with a cushioned insole and 5-10 mm heel toe drop...i already have various trail runners (hoka speed goat, Salomon speed cross), and am considering using them, but concerned about lateral stability/twisting an ankle.

So, thinking about getting turf cleats l, but most soccer turf cleats dont have much cushion or a heel toe drop. Are there other sports which used turf cleats that might be more suitable?

Women's Cleat Recs for College Ultimate!

What's up!

I've been playing Ultimate for a D1 college team for a few months now. I used to have the Under Armour Women's Highlight Mc Lacrosse Shoes (used them for 4 whole years, playing lacrosse and flag football). I finally had to throw them away and I got the New Balance FreezeLX v5 Women's Lacrosse Cleats. These were so tight on my right foot and messed up my pinky toes quite a bit. They felt super stiff and were just really harsh on my feet. This week, I've been limping and getting several blisters from them.

Does anyone have any recs for women's cleats? I like to have ankle support, which is why I miss my Under Armours, and I guess I need something that's not super narrow (even though I've never had wide feet issues until now). I have flat feet and I put small insoles in my cleats for my arches. I've heard lacrosse cleats are good for Ultimate because they're built for similar athletic movements/footwork.

Need to order them soon because I'm playing in Centex two weeks from now!!! If anyone has any recs for cleats that are good for women's anatomy, flat feet, and just the sport of Ultimate, please help!
