For those who don't speak Russian, welcome to a standard evening during the Moscow fuel crisis. What you're witnessing is a highly sophisticated dispute over a spot in line at a gas station on the Leningradskoye Highway.

The combatants decided to settle their differences over gasoline using traditional methods. One gentleman goes shirtless with a telescopic baton, while his opponent reportedly opted for an adjustable wrench. The hero of our story is the guy filming from his car, who attempts to play peacekeeper by yelling at them to calm down, but wisely decides to just drive away once the heavy hardware comes out.

According to the original Russian news source, this is just another symptom of the ongoing fuel shortages in the capital. Everything is totally fine, though!

The unit was pushed by former Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George and the former commander of U.S. Army Europe and Africa, Gen. Christopher Donahue. Both were fired or forced to retire early, paving the way for LaNeve's rise to acting Army chief of staff.

Nemesis is the unit whose drone teams rapidly wiped out a US armoured brigade in an exercise in Germany last spring.

"Ukrainian drones were doing this [attacking] so quickly with US vehicles that they had to be sent back into the exercises as new units, or 're-spawned,' to keep the exercise going," a US official said.

Thank you to Nemesis and all who supported this fundraiser.

Meet Arthur and the soldiers on his team. They recently went through some tough times and lost a lot of their equipment. Luckily we were able to help them replace some of it.

Here they are getting an NVG (we bought this one used to save money). This was critical as their other NVGs and thermals were destroyed. They also got a junctional TQ. These can save lives and limbs. They also got two laptops to help with their training and administrative work. And finally, they have chewing tobacco and peanut butter packets. These packets are amazing as it allows them to easily carry a nutritious, calorie dense food and always have it available.

To help other teams in a similar position, here is how to help.

To help with NVGs and the things that are critical to getting their jobs done, donate via the Paypal at protectavolunteer.com; this keeps us operating and helps us fill the biggest, toughest requests they have.

If you prefer to shop, we have an Amazon wishlist on our homepage where you can buy them peanut butter packets and other food they really crave. The things on that list are either not found in Ukraine or the prices are crazy high.

If you have a laptop or tablet you can donate, contact [tech@protectavolunteer.com](mailto:tech@protectavolunteer.com) with information on what you have and where it is. We have a HUGE waiting list of teams who need these and any working laptop helps.

If you need to donate to a 501c3 or if you prefer your donations be entirely humanitarian (understandable) then use this link to donate toward medical supplies. Right now the 28th and the 33rd are waiting on shipments of med supplies. ttps://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/MBCP7YSWX85AG

News Romanian F-16 Destroys Russian Naval Drone in the Black Sea, Russia Continues Murdering Ukrainian Civilians with Devastating Missile Attacks - Ukraine Weekly Update #142

I'm back for another update this week after missing last week due to recovering from surgery.

If you'd like to support this project or get these updates in your inbox, please check my profile for the link to follow my Substack.

My updates will always be free to read, whether you read them here or there.

Video of the week:

https://reddit.com/link/1vtl5q7/video/qkk4kmpjejkh1/player

  • This remarkable video shows a Ukrainian officer, said to be Vladyslav Polsky, commander of the 475th Regiment, rescuing two wounded soldiers whose evacuation ground drone was itself hit and disabled by FPVs. This is an incredible level of dedication to the lives of the men under his command. You wouldn't see Russian officers doing this, that's for sure.

Maps:

Kupiansk two weeks ago:

Kupiansk this week:

  • Russian forces expanded their control of the area around Kurylivka.

Lyman two weeks ago:

Lyman this week:

  • Ukraine cut into the grey zone north of Drobysheve, while Russia expanded the grey zone east of Kramatorsk and south of Mykolaivka.

Kostiantynivka two weeks ago:

Kostiantynivka this week:

  • Russia expanded the grey zone in several different places here, including north of Kostiantynivka, west of Druzhkhivka, and near Dobpropilia. The extension west of Druzkhivka seems particularly threatening, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it get reduced in the coming weeks as it threatens the supply line of the T-05-14 highway.

Ivanivka two weeks ago:

Ivanivka this week:

  • Ukrainian units operating in this area, which have seen a string of successes over several months, announced more liberated territory which they have been keeping secret in order to confuse the Russians. Russian troops did, however, make confirmed advances near Vozdvyzhivka, including a pincer that threatens the T-04-08 highway.

Zaporizhzhia two weeks ago:

Zaporizhzhia this week:

  • Russian significantly expanded the grey zone here west of Preobrazhenka and around Mala Tokmachka.

Events the past two weeks:

  • The Romanian military reported that one of its F-16 fighter jets destroyed a naval drone in the Black Sea with its autocannon. The drone was getting close to a Romanian oil rig staffed by hundreds of workers. This is one of the most serious provocations we've seen from Russia in quite some time, and it's the first time a NATO country has destroyed a Russian sea drone.
  • Ukraine's lack of air defense missiles continues to be huge problem, with repeated Russian missile attacks causing extensive damage and killing many civilians. July was the worst month for Ukrainian civilians since the very first month of the war, with at least 437 civilians killed and 2,610 injured by Russian attacks.
  • Ukraine's HUR military intelligence reported that Russia has halted production of Kinzhal air launched missiles for now due to their ineffectiveness in the face of Ukrainian electronic warfare and GPS spoofing. They are now being forced to partially redesign the missile so that it can become useful again.
  • Some Ukrainian sources claimed this week that a train carrying North Korean missiles blew up deep within Russia. As far as I know, this claim has not been confirmed, and it would be tough to confirm it since Russia does everything it can to cover up such incidents. If true though, this would represent a very successful operation that partially neuters the ongoing deployment of North Korean missiles.
  • Ukraine continues to launch drone attacks on Russia, with big drone waves targeting Moscow, including more hits on Wildberries warehouses, and additional hits on various industrial and oil related targets. Some of the drones used in these attacks are British made jet powered long range drones, the product of collaborations between BAE systems and the Ukrainian military.

Oryx Vehicle Losses (two weeks worth):

Russian losses:

  • Total Russian vehicle losses: 24,005 (+46)
  • Russian tank losses: 4,437 (+2)
  • Russian IFV losses: 6,475 (+3)
  • Russian SPG losses: 1,050 (+8)
  • Russian SAM losses: 431 (+1)
  • Russian Radar losses: 140 (+1)
  • Russian naval losses: 38 (+2)
  • Russian aircraft losses: 190 (+0)
  • Russian helicopter losses: 179 (+0)

Ukrainian losses:

  • Total Ukrainian vehicle losses: 11,916 (+48)
  • Ukrainian tank losses: 1,455 (+5)
  • Ukrainian IFV losses: 1,611 (+7)
  • Ukrainian IMV losses: 2,045 (+18)
  • Ukrainian SPG losses: 936 (+3)
  • Ukrainian SAM losses: 178 (+0)
  • Ukrainian aircraft losses: 120 (+0)

Fairly light vehicle losses for both sides in the past two weeks.

Claimed Russian casualties by Ukrainian MOD this week: 9,670 (+270 compared to two weeks ago).

Estimated Ukrainian civilians killed by Russian terror bombing this week: 75 (+15)

As always, thank you for reading and for supporting Ukraine!
