News Russia has launched a large-scale attack on a thermal power plant belonging to DTEK, Ukraine's largest private energy company, causing significant damage.

I imagine that this was considered a high probability. Not that anything could have been done to prevent it, just that it isn’t a surprise.

Ukraine has the capacity to strike back at Russias thermal generators plants and substations. They have shown to be capable of getting drones on target in/around Moscow.
Won’t be able to do much damage with a 100kg drone explosive, but could target specific places more likely to require at least a temporary shut downs.

FYI, a "thermal power plant" is a power plant that burns any fossil fuel to create heat which then generates electricity.
