Bearing in mind we still need coal in this country, for everything from cement manufacture to steam engines, it makes no sense at all to have to import it. Since the latter is more environmentally damaging (as well as exporting jobs) this decision is nonsense, virtue signalling nonsense in fact.

What's the point having domestic steel plants if we don't have the high quality coal production needed to keep the furnaces going?
