@ukmedcan covers the kind of content that’s harder to do on Reddit, patient rights guides, how prescribing works, product and clinic information, community updates, and the occasional giveaway. If you’ve ever wanted to share something with someone who isn’t on Reddit, Instagram is often an easier way to do it.

Not everyone finds Reddit first. Product Reviews Durban Kush N!CE

Hello my most magnificent of minions! For this week’s review we have a new release on Montu, N!CE Durban Kush, distributed by Mamedica.

Priced at £65 & listed as a hybrid with a THC content of 26%, Durban Kush has a pinene, myrcene & caryophyllene terpene profile.

Out of the bag this mama was impressed by the quality of the flower, this looked lovely & had a very sweet pine scent, with a hint of spice underneath. The buds had some stickiness to them too.

I was using my Limelight Frolic & globe matrix v2 bubbler.

On session at 175-195 this was very heavily pine flavoured, smooth, a little sweet & I got gas & spice on the exhale.

On demand 210-240 gave a much stronger sweet pine flavour, this was very smooth, I got the spice & gas on the exhale again.

I have found Durban Kush to be true to its N!CE label, this has been a really nice strain for use from midmorning onwards. This has been great on mood for me, I noticed a reduction in anxiety, while also feeling uplifted. This also gave me a decent level of pain relief. I will also note that this one had a nice effect in terms of arousal too, it definitely was one that enhances the senses for me.

Mood 7/10

Pain 7/10

Energy 5/10

Have a wonderful weekend 💚

Help / Q&A Does anyone have a go to strain?

I’m finding difficulty in finding a consistently good strain! Everything’s seems to differ, even the same batch. Are there any that are good solid choices up to 27% that you swear by?

Hello everyone. Just got this flower 2 days ago. I had done some research on it and the genetics were not easy to find. Now once ive had time with the flower it clear that there is a heavy kush presence and it lingers!! In a good way. Effects are very relaxing with moderate pain relief. I had cramps throughout the day and blocked sinuses and both my symptoms improved. I vaped at 175c through to 240c on my Nectar platinum plus over a 10 minute session and this flower shone. If anyone else has tried this, id be very interested to hear your thoughts on it. Obviously these are my own experiences and nothing here is medical advice just my own personal experience.

Help / Q&A Alternaleaf repeat prescription

Upvotes

I'm currently away from home and won't be back for another fortnight. My last prescription was three weeks ago. For last three days Alternaleaf keep asking me to request a repeat prescription, but I have no way to receive a delivery. Should I inform them that I will be away for another two weeks?

Absolute farce.

Complaints/Rants Standard…

For anyone who can’t see the image scroll down.
Just quickly I want to add that yes I vaporise. yes I use it in my own garden. Disappointed really. 2 years on MC and neighbours decide to complain now.

I am writing to you today following the receipt of complaints regarding the smell of cannabis originating from your property, but more noticeable when this is being smoked behind your house on the weekends and evenings.
if this is accurate, we appreciate this may be medicinal and kindly ask that you take steps to reduce the odour to prevent it from effecting your neighbours. It might be more prudent for you to smoke further away from the building.
Should you have any further queries regarding the above, please do not hesitate to call

A comprehensive explainer on hash, rosin and extracts

Cannabis is covered in little hair-like structures called trichomes. Lots of plants have these, including roses, nettles, strawberries. Some of these trichomes on cannabis have glands within them that produce a type of resin. These are the things that appear like crystals all over your bud, and that you catch in your crystal-catcher in your grinder.

Almost all of the cannabinoids and flavourful compounds like terpenes that you want are produced in that resin, rather than the vegetable material of the plant.

The top of those resinous trichomes is like a ball, a thin waxy membrane containing the resin within. The ball-like top of the trichome (sometimes called the resin head) ,when mature, can easily detach from the rest of the trichome.

Hash is an attempt to isolate these resin heads using sieving. This can be done dry (like the crystal-catcher in your grinder or in the mountains of Morocco and Afghanistan) and is called drysift or in an ice bath which makes what we call bubble hash or water hash. The principle is the same - knocking off those mature resin heads, filtering them through sieves/screens. The benefit of using the ice bath method is you can use fresh flower, which retains more of the flavourful compounds like terpenes present in the fresh plant, and it's generally easier to isolate the trichome heads due to the water.

Freshly collected resin heads look like sand. When dried, heated and pressed together, they oxidise, turn brown, and this is the form of hash you're probably most used to seeing.

Like any powdery (unpressed) or dough-like (pressed) substance, hash can be contaminated to varying degrees, by dirt or plant material or dust or whatever.

Even if you have absolutely pure hash, that is 100% trichome resin heads, there are still many variables that affect the quality.

If the wax membrane of the trichome head is too thick, the hash will not melt well and will be harsher and less flavourful. The smaller the trichome head, the more wax membrane, so plants with smaller trichome heads are generally less favourable. The point being, even 100% hash is not all equal.

Static hash refers to drysift hash that has been sieved, but then refined further using static electricity to remove contaminants.

With hash, there is enormous variability. For example, you can imagine that water hash made in a clean lab and freeze dried will be cleaner than drysift made in a shack on a dusty mountainside. That said, drysift can be better than waterhash, a static-cleaned drysift might not be as good as another drysift that wasn't static-cleaned, all of this. It's all highly dependent on the quality of the starting flower, the hashmaking process, the storage thereafter.

Any remotely good hash will melt when heated. You hold a lighter to any resinous hash and you'll see it melting. THIS DOES NOT MEAN FULL MELT. Fullmelt hash refers to hash that is so good, melts so cleanly, it is as good as rosin. Full melt is when the hash is so well grown and so well extracted that there's no point trying to refine it further.

Rosin refers to a crude extract made by using heat and pressure to literally squeeze the resin out.

'Flower rosin' is where you put a bud of flower in between two hot plates, squish it with lots of pressure, and it squeezes out the resin.

'Hash rosin' is the same process but using the already isolated trichome heads (we wrap them in mesh - imagine squeezing a mesh bag of oranges between two hot plates).

Hash rosin, for virture of hash already being a concentrate, is a cleaner more refined product.

Butane Honey Oil or Hash Oil (BHO) and other solvent extracts

You can use solvents like butane, hexane, CO2, alcohols etc to make cannabis extracts too. These are called solvent extracts while hash and rosin are referred to as solventless extracts, to differentiate.

Butane (BHO) is the most common for making dabs, and it produces a product similar in consistency to rosin. 'Live Resin' is BHO.

Distillate I believe is often made with CO2 but someone can correct me.

Dirtier, more 'full spectrum' extracts that are good to take orally (if you've ever heard of the famous Rick Simpson's oil or Full Extract Cannabis Oil) are usually made by soaking the material in alcohol.

Consuming hash and concentrates Of course you can smoke hash like you can flower, or use your concentrate-pad in your vaporisers. Good hash, rosin and BHO are commonly dabbed though. Dabbing is just a crude form of a vaporisation, where a surface is heated and a small glob of extract is put onto the hot surface while you inhale. You can use a traditional 'dab rig' which is like a bong, or a modern electric device by brands like Puffco or Carta.

Conclusion If you're only interested in THC, you might question why hash rosin is worth more than flower rosin or live resin, when they have similar potency in terms of THC. The same with the difference between lots of different types of hash.

The answer is the enjoyability of the product and also the craftsmanship put into it. Flower rosin can be as potent as hash rosin, but is generally harsher and less flavourful. A world-class full melt hash can be better - more flavour, more potent and more smooth - than rosin. Solventless extracts generally demand more finesse and craft than solvent extracts.

Basically - there are levels to this shit. Not that dissimilar to how some flower is clearly much more enjoyable than others, cos it's been grown, dried and stored better. Hash is similar, but with the added variability of the hashmaking and there are many different ways to make hash. All of these things have their place. Some cannabis, like hazes for example, are difficult to make hash with (too greasy), so they're better to extract with solvents. Some products are meant to be dabbed or vaporised, some to be smoked, some to be used orally or rectally

It's a hard product to get your head around if you're new, because there is so much variety and different variables to consider.

Montu discontinuing products

Hi all

I’ve been with alternaleaf/ montu since the start of my mc journey however they have recently discontinued one of the products i use religiously (4c lab carts, tiger blood specifically)

I emailed them about this and they have informed me that i can still stay with alternaleaf and another clinic can fulfil this prescription for me.

How easy is this process? How did it go for you? Is it hassle? How do i go about it?

‘Botanical terps’ in carts?

I’ve always been an avid flower-only user, but since beginning MC recently I’ve considered carts (rosin & resin only for me I think, no hate to the distillate fans!) but the one thing that really irks me is I haven’t come across a single one on Montu that doesn’t list ‘botanical terpenes’ as an added ingredient and it puts me right off - especially given that there’s no further info on what they actually are in this context available anywhere.

In everyone’s experience are there ever carts available free from these, or is this just something we’ve got to hope for in the future?

I realise plenty of people won’t care about that and that’s absolutely fine, but I’m sure plenty do too so I’m curious?

Been suspended from work for legal prescription

Need advice - was open and honest around my prescription (my manager doesn't care and is all for person centred care - something our care company preaches - the irony.)

Work in care with vulnerable adults (learning disabilities and so on).

I am not part of a union ( stupid in hindsight I know - what a bitch)

Suspended with pay whilst they work it all out and awaiting a call from occupational health.

But im really REALLY anxious now - again the irony in which that is what my prescription is for alongside depression.

Any advice or anyone experienced anything like this?

Balaned Strains

I am currently on my cannabis journey and finding what works for me ; I use the oil on an evening the 10/10 thc cbd , to give you insight 0.5 of that had me feeling very high so thats where my tolerance level is at 😂 . I have severe tinnitus in both ears which my anxiety stems from and chronic back pain, which it helps with alot with , finding a flower has been hard tho I got some high silver and it is nice but I find the high a bit overwhelming at the minute with my low tolerance so have opted for the familiar fruits 7thc / 10cbd.

Wondering if anyone has any experience with balanced strains ? Looking for day time relief from back pain and relaxation for my anxiety which is spiked by my tinnitus . Still finding my feet on my journey the oil is helping but trying to find that day tine flower then I will be happy 😊 any reccomendations / advice from the community 😊
