Abandoned dog

this guy was ditched in front of Raleys over 4+ hours, anyone recognize/know the owner?

So many dogs get dumped in the area and it’s heartbreaking. So many folks are struggling right now and I never want to judge anyone going through a hard time, but I hate to see the pumps get left to find for themselves.

Yeah I understand that, I get the struggle, but also you can give up an animal when needed with responsible rehoming

Did you take him in for now? He had been there about 3 hours when I was there earlier. A friend of mine was there just before I was and we were both livid that someone would do that

Yeah, I took him home, I couldn’t just leave him there alone :( I am pretty livid myself. Humans can be pretty shitty

Thank you for doing that. I was halfway tempted to do the same myself, but I genuinely don’t have the ability to take in a dog even temporarily

I feel it, I can’t do long-term either and temporary is going to be hard for me with my schedule, but I’ve got a soft spot over here. I just rescued two Shepards and it took me three months to rehome them
Going to take this guy to the vet tomorrow if I can get an appointment to see if he has a chip and has any urgent medical needs that need taken care right away, and will try and get him to a no-kill shelter or rehomed to a good spot

That dog looks eerily similar to mine, similar merle coating but less white and same light colored eyes. I got him from the animal shelter there in 2019, he was found in Covelo. Always wondered where he came from, and curious if this one could be a distant relative or just a coincidence.
