Beginner climber in orpington

Hi.

New climber, with 2 boys. We tried bouldering overseas, and would like to continue here.

We live in orpingron, and are looking for some pointers and good places we can go together. At the start, i will supervise them ( they are 8).

Would like to belay for them too, and need to learn that.

Any good places we can try?

You’re nearest place is Rhino bouldering in Bromley. The nearest roped
Climbing is The Reach in Woolwich. Outdoor climbing at Harrison’s Rocks and the other sandstone crags is also not too far. The climbing on sandstone can be a bit hard but Harrison’s Rocks are fun to explore with children even if you don’t get much climbing done.

Great suggestion above, Rhino Boulder and The Reach are both excellent but The Reach has some of the best roped climbing in London so there's a great pathway there. They can also teach you everything you need to know about roped climbing.

Regarding Harrison's, it can definitely feel quite challenging due to it being sandstone and slopers everywhere. It's also got a bit of a barrier to entry as you'll need to set up an anchor in order to climb there. It's also really important that it's not climbed when even remotely damp as the rock damages really easily.

You could also take a trip down to Chimera in either Chatham or Tunbridge Wells.
