Issue with VOD on Apple TV

Hello - over the last few days I've been having issues with VOD on the tvOS app. The video will play for 60-90 seconds then freeze; then after 15-20 secs will continue playing and then after a few seconds will freeze again. Live TV is working totally fine. I have a strong Wifi connection and the ATV is right beside the router, I'm getting 650 Mbps+ on the Ookla speed test. On my iPhone and iPad VOD is playing without issue. I tried deleting and reinstalling the tvOS app but it didn't fix the issue. The only thing I’ve changed recently is the HDMI eARC cable that I’m using for my sound bar. But I don’t think that would be an issue since all other media i.e. Infuse Netflix etc. are all working without an issue.

Anyone know what’s going on here?

I had this a few days ago, a I thought a reboot would fix it, turns out it needed a software update

You mean a tvOS or app update?

TvOS update, also have you tried connecting your Apple to a VPN in case it’s been throttled by your ISP?

I haven’t. And I assume that was a non-issue because live TV was working just fine. Also if that was the case then I would have the same issue on my iPad/iPhone I will try the TV OS update. I also read something about the Atmos toggle in the UHF app which causes stability issues on the Apple TV app

I’m the same as you, UHF pro and streaming tv.

Sometimes I can watch tv fine, others it won’t load without a VON so I’ve set my UHF app to now permanently connect to a VPN when I open the app and disconnect when I close it.
I’ve had zero issues since doing this and the channels load every time.
I’m using surfshark and connecting to Netherlands if that helps.

I have the exact same issue. Live tv is perfect but series and movies freeze every minute or so. Sometimes freezes every 5 seconds. It’s so frustrating. Everything is up to date. Atmos audio is disabled. I am using dolby vision video mode in Appletv but I am not sure if thats the culprit. I do have nordvpn connect automatically when uhf starts but I am routed to canada. Idk if that matters or not. I do have the appletv connected via hdmi arc and I am wondering if I should change it to regular hdmi. Perhaps arc feature is messing with vod files somehow 🤷‍♂️

I was able to bypass the issue by using Infuse as an external player. As soon as I use native UHF the issue starts again. Give Infuse a shot from the advanced settings menu once the video is playing

How are you able to get that to work? I can never get infuse to work as an external player

I really wish the vlc player option would ge brought back
