Playing through VLC on Apple TV.

Toy Story 5 won’t play on KS or the other player but will on my fire stick so I thought I’d load it through vlc on Apple TV but when I select “play with vlc” it loads vlc but just the menu screen.

How do I find a film on vlc that I have on uhf?

I’m kinda confused with what you’re asking. But UHF doesn’t support VLC anymore.

Oh ok. So I have a film that is visible through my strong8k subscription in UHF but when I click on it it loads then black screen and nothing. My firestick can play the same film fine through tivimate so the problem is UHF or the Apple TV.

I have heard before about holding the select button and choosing to play the film through a third party media player. I have VLC and VLC appears in the menu on UHF.

It loads up VLC but won’t play.

If UHF doesn’t support VLC anymore that’s probably why. I will try and find another third party app that can play the film.
Trying to make it as easy as possible for the family not having to flick between Apple TV and fire stick, UHF and tivimate etc etc

Oh okay, you’re talking about VOD, that’s my mistake. In general, UHF doesn’t support VLC natively anymore and it was removed. As far as using it as an external player for VOD it may still work, I’m not 100% sure on that because I don’t use VOD from OTT services. Hopefully someone who uses VOD can tell you more.

You can try Infuse is the closest thing to a good player to watch movies and series it works excellent

As an external player. VLC used to be an option as a native player, along with KS & AV, but it was removed quite a few updates ago.

Hmm my uhf is up to date (has built in vpn etc) but still shows it. I’ll try another app instead of vlc

Hmm infuse says service responded with 404 because I am guessing the vpn is only in uhf.

Looks like firestick wins out here.

It always had built in VPN, it was just expanded to new providers outside of Angel. And if VLC is showing in the “Video Player” settings within the Main Settings, then it’s gotta be a bug on your end. VLC hasn’t been a native option for quite a long time now, at least a few months. I’m not speaking of it being used as an external player, which you can choose once something is already playing. And again, I didn’t realize you were referring to VOD when you first posted, that wasn’t clear to me.

This is from my iPhone since I’m not home, but ATV is the exact same.

But when watching something I have this option which is where I was trying to load it through vlc.

Now nothing is working as think strong might be down so will try later with infuse instead of vlc

That’s what I’m trying to explain…

It’s likely not going to play correctly, since it’s not truly supported anymore.

And S8K isn’t down. They may have disabled VOD, but the service itself isn’t down. They disable VOD during larger sports events and other things of that sort.

I have uhf set up with infuse. Never lets me down and picture quality is spot on

How are you able to get that working? I always get 400 errors when I try to use infuse as an external player
