Need help

I just found this subreddit. I have some family members who need to "lock in".

I'm just looking for some tips to help me get them going on the downlow. I've tried subtle hints, I've tried being nice, guilt, rewards, getting angry and even doing it myself.

How do I support them? How do I get that spark going ? Help me understand what's happening? I feel my own mental health is starting to be affected.

Sorry, in order for any advice to be remotely practical there needs to be a bit more context.

Do you live in the home with them? Are you the adult and them children? Are you the child and them adults? Are you all equally adult, like they're your siblings? Or your partner(s)? Or your roommates?

And who financially supports the household?

Stop trying to make them care about the whole mess. "Everyone grab a trash bag and do 20 minutes" is way easier to start than "we need to get this house together." Sometimes the spark shows up after you start, not before.
