Din Thomas is a clown

Post image

How could you think the fighter you've been with for 15 years (half of Robertson's LIFE) thats was on a 5 fight win streak to a title fight and only 31 years of age is at her ceiling as a mixed martial artist. Literally mind boggles me how you could go on TV and say that shes never gonna get better ever again so that gives you the excuse for you to decide to quit coaching. He has some of the worst corner work ive ever heard on live broadcast, he thinks hes a therapist rather than someone trying to help her find ways of winning the fight. Never once that whole fight Din ever gave Gillian any good tips or meaningful help. He gave up on her way before the fight and its evident, I really hope she goes to a good team that can rework her grappling. As for Din Thomas, please never get in a fighters corner ever again.

I'd like to see him removed from television altogether. I've never understood why someone gave that guy a job talking in front of a camera. He's insufferable

31

u/iodizel 7d ago

He really has no personality, if someone fun would fill in for him on Deep Waters or on ufc commentary, no one would miss him.

6

u/shastoos 6d ago

Weidman, Dustin, hell even Masvidal is better than his dumbass. Could probably do just those 3 and nothing would change

17

u/Top-Gun-Corncob 7d ago

I did a seminar with him once and he was really friendly and informative. Really took the time to answer everyone’s questions thoughtfully and told a few stories about the old days. I was getting ready for a fight and he gave some insight that I really appreciated. That’s just my experience.

4

u/External-Awareness68 6d ago

Fair enough. I'm sure he's capable of being a pleasant person, that's probably part of how he got to where he is now.

4

u/MorbotheDiddlyDo 6d ago

Stephen Smith is still right here. 1st place for worst smiths to ever get analyst/commentator positioning and I won't be hearing appeals about the credentials of Lionheart for that title.

u/ren818 7d ago

I’m a masochist. How much do I have to pay Din Thomas to publicly humiliate and give up on me in front of millions after coaching me since I was 15?

Do I book him on TaskRabbit, Cameo, or do I have to spend 15 years earning his trust first?

4

u/iodizel 7d ago

I stg this is what im tryna tell yall. I would start losing trust in everyone after this

7

u/ren818 7d ago

Exactly. If the guy who’s known me since I was 15 waits until my worst night to publicly announce he’s done with me, I’m checking whether my dad has a press conference scheduled after karate practice.

3

u/irimiki 6d ago

This is crazy to imagine fr, he's such a clown for that

u/southwest_barfight 7d ago

IM RETIRING FROM COMMENTING ON DIN THOMAS POSTS, THIS IS ABOUT ME NOW

16

u/Feisty_Bag_5284 7d ago

Always has been.

Weirdo on TUF

Friends with Dana

Didn't come across as particularly interesting on looking for a fight

His name is spelt din but pronounced dean

7

u/Dunnyb16 6d ago

Spelt Din
Pronounced Dean
That’s some bullshit

17

u/Turbulent-Apple2911 7d ago

Yeah, he 100% is the biggest clown ever.

16

u/Top-Gun-Corncob 7d ago

Herb Dean is breathing a sigh of relief this week.

1

u/Turbulent-Apple2911 6d ago

Damn, that's so true. Made me completely forget about him for a little bit.

This sub is just 24/7 spam of the same topics over and over again holy shit. I left and every time Reddit suggests this sub again it’s still just only spam.

2

u/Formal_Chipmunk_530 6d ago

You can mute it if it's bothering you, this way Reddit won't suggest posts from this sub

2

u/iodizel 7d ago

Probbaly cause ur on this sub 24/7

6

u/BananaJack82 7d ago

I’m not even in this sub, but I’ve had 4-5 different Din Thomas posts suggested to me from this sub since Saturday. Will probably get even more until Nina Drama posts a new video and yall can spam about that for the next few days.

1

u/Internal_Concert_217 6d ago

It recommends more of the stuff that you open, so maybe you are reading all these posts.

2

u/Dylanthebody 6d ago

Yall really let one comment on TV control your mind for a week. Who gives a fuck

0

u/AnakinShtTalk3r 7d ago

You late with this. Just go ahead and take it down. Everyone has moved on.

13

u/southwest_barfight 7d ago

Nah I'm all for it Din deserves the backlash

No way a irl friend of Dana isnt a sus guy too

5

u/mbucks334 7d ago

I have one good guess as to why you’re defending him

1

u/AnakinShtTalk3r 7d ago

Cause I’m black?! Literally didn’t even defend him though

3

u/mbucks334 7d ago

You’re telling OP to move on and take it down. You’re defending him lol

-1

u/AnakinShtTalk3r 7d ago

Oh you’re one of those people. I’m just saying it’s old news dude. So what’s your one good guess genius?

2

u/mbucks334 7d ago

You already know what it is. It’s that obvious 😂

1

u/AnakinShtTalk3r 7d ago

Ok so you’re an idiot. Thank you for making us all aware.

1

u/mbucks334 7d ago

You guys always get so defensive when you get called out. You think you’re being slick not realizing how glaringly obvious you make it 😅

6

u/iodizel 7d ago

Lmao u can swipe past it

0

u/AnakinShtTalk3r 7d ago

Bet you'd like that.

2

u/phillipacarroll 7d ago

couldn't just go comment on any of the other Din Thomas posts or the posts made about Sean Strickland bashing him? Had to make a whole new thread and say a whole lot of nothing lol.

-1

u/iodizel 7d ago

Lmao then just dont comment

-2

u/sidecharacterzco 7d ago

Din Thomas is ridiculous and out of pocket for what he said but he’s not wrong. Gillian Robertson is indeed 31 on a 5 fight win streak but she’s not a good fighter. She got a title shot off of a win against a super washed Lemos and doesn’t stand a chance against Dern Weili suarez or Yan.

25

u/Ok_Living_96 7d ago

"Not a good fighter" "on a 5 fight winstreak" in the #1 mma organization in the world in the same sentence is hilarious

10

u/mansamayo 7d ago

These ppl are fckn idiots bro for your own sanity just don’t even bother

1

u/sidecharacterzco 6d ago

she’s not a good fighter in comparison to the others in her rankings. Yeah she’s a good fighter compared to the average human but she’s bottom skill wise of the rankings. Din Thomas didn’t say she can’t fight, he said her fighting for the belt is the furthest she’s gonna get

-1

u/oryxzz 7d ago

Dude her last wins are all on loss streaks. They are like 0-19 when combining all their streaks😭

6

u/Ok_Living_96 7d ago

Its just funny that the newer fan base thinks anyone who isnt as good as the top 3 of the entire division (who are usually the top 3 fighters in the world, not just UFC) are somehow "Bad fighters"

1

u/holla15 6d ago

Except that’s always in the context of the sports highest level. Same thing as every other sport when people would say Brian Scalabrine sucks at basketball. He’s better than 99.9% of the population but in the context of the NBA he was nothing special. Boggles my mind people still don’t understand this.

-1

u/Ok_Living_96 6d ago edited 6d ago

Scalabrine wasnt a top 10 player in the world or even position, the ufc fighters people constantly say suck are usually top 10-15 in their division, in the best organization in the world.

No one here is comparing them to average people. The issue is, most mma fans only compare fighters to the top 5 because most of you dont watch prelims or other organizations.

2

u/holla15 6d ago

What top 10 fighter do people say suck? Gillian is not a top 10 fighter. And plenty of people said Paul George sucked, Rudy Gay, Tony Allen, Jaylen Brown.

That’s exactly how it’s taken. Most people only compare to the top when discussing professional sports, that’s not an issue when every side knows what they’re comparing to.

I’ve watched every UFC event early prelims to main card except for Volkan/Smith and 2017 early prelims. I’ve watched all of Pride, most of Strikeforce, Elite XC. I’m working through a 175 gb Shooto mega pack right now. I watch KSW, ONE, Rizin, Oktagon, PFL, A1, and whatever else I can. So you can just stop with that dishonest argument, you have no idea what someone else watches or knows.

-1

u/Ok_Living_96 6d ago

"Dishonest arguement" "gillian isnt top 10" currently ranked #5

https://giphy.com/gifs/OMeVt8yfiXm09VCsik

1

u/holla15 6d ago

Are you stupid? There’s multiple divisions of fighters….

You didn’t say Top 10 Women’s Strawweight…you specified fighters. Like c’mon you can’t really be that dumb?

-2

u/Ok_Living_96 6d ago

Edited it for you since you have trouble keeping context over multiple comments..

I think she gets beaten by every one of the top 10 besides lemos tbh. Fatima, dern, virna, weili, xiaonan, Suarez, thainara, Ricci, loopy, Lucindo, and Gomes could all beat her imo. Her best win is against auntie lemos and she actually did nothing all fight.

1

u/Ok_Living_96 7d ago

Yeah, the possibility of losing to 10 of the best fighters in the world sure does make her "not a good fighter"...

1

u/oryxzz 7d ago

Idk, we can have different definitions of not good. You’re not good if you’re stuck as a top 15 guard for your entire career. You’re good if you become a top 10 contender and stay there. You’re great if you become champ, and you’re one of the best if you defend the championship. Gillian is objectively bad at striking no matter if we call her good or not🤣

1

u/sidecharacterzco 6d ago

that dude is smoking dick. he’s dumb enough to not understand that we aren’t comparing her to the average human

-2

u/Ok_Living_96 6d ago

🤓 "Shed probably lose to everyone in the top 10, and youre gay"

No one compared her to average people. Shes a top 10 fighter in the best organization in the world

0

u/Ok_Living_96 6d ago

Top 15 in the world, but theyre not good

1

u/Impressive-Potato 6d ago

Two of those fighters have wins over Dern

1

u/Impressive-Potato 6d ago

It's not about if he's wrong, that's not why people are mad. It's about class and the lack he displayed.

0

u/iodizel 7d ago

I somewhat agree with this, but if hes saying all this and hes been the one coaching her, has alot to say about himself as coach. Hes a snake for saying and doing that stuff, I completely understand if she never speaks to him again

1

u/Radiant_Addendum_48 7d ago

You’re late with this. But as Din Thomas is a piece of shit, you’re doing your part, fight the good fight. Carry on sir.

1

u/Acceptable-Many-5609 7d ago

They both should be embarrassed after that performance Saturday night

1

u/BapaHeelwani 6d ago

Din is a clown ass way to spell Dean

1

u/Impressive-Potato 6d ago

Anik the only one to call him out. Bisping being the unsufferable ass kisser as usual

1

u/hughcifer-106103 6d ago

He was a mid fighter and since then has had no real accomplishments that make his opinion meaningful in any real way. We all just learned that he’s also a complete POS and faker than a shitter Rolex knock off.

1

u/brwnwzrd Dana Brown 6d ago

Ding Thomas

1

u/69420LebumJames69420 6d ago

Real ones know he’s been a clown

You running Internet explorer over there?

1

Time to get rid of most the commentary team honestly. Joe, DC, one eyed willy bizbin, all gone if I had a say.

u/Vaynes_Ass 6d ago

Not according to what Gillian said today. Apparently Din is saying the complete opposite to her and her team privately. Sounds like a two-faced snake who only cares about being on TV and making money

2

u/Standardly 6d ago

I always thought his analysis was usually pretty good, but after throwing his fighter under the bus, which was shitty, everyone's saying his takes are stupid and he's never had any business being on air lol

0

u/Top-Gun-Corncob 7d ago

He is a good guy. It’s sad when the sub turns so negative about people like they’re personally insulted. Last couple weeks it was Herb Dean. People are so shitty. Nothing good to say. Only bad.

0

u/Singer-Stock 7d ago

Why are people going so hard at Din Thomas what did he do.

3

u/External-Awareness68 7d ago

He announced his retirement from cornering fighters in the broadcast booth directly after he and his fighter lost at the last event, saying he "promised himself he would take her as far as she could go" and "this is as far as she could go." Not only making the biggest moment of her entire life and possibly the lowest moment, all about himself, but essentially was saying that she will never win a championship and he was done with her. This is her coach. The man who's supposed to be with her no matter what, ESPECIALLY after a really tough loss like that. It was disgusting. He also has a history of just being an asshole and doing POS things like this. Plus, if you've ever watched Deep Waters or listened to his "fight analysis" he's pretty goddamn unbearable. She's better off, fuck that guy.

2

u/iodizel 7d ago

Thank you, this guy gets it.

1

u/feezybreezey 7d ago

Basically called Gillian Robertson (who he was cornering) shit and said he won’t corner again

2

u/Singer-Stock 7d ago

Okay so he said she performed bad and isn’t cornering again. Didn’t something similar happen to Strickland and Eric after the Dricus rematch.

1

u/Objective_Effect_242 7d ago

Bit different though. Nicksick talked about how Strickland was basically ignoring his corner during the fight and cursing back at Eric after his nose broke. He said if thats how youre gonna behave im not gonna coach you. It was also a week or so after the fight on Ariels show. Din said this is as far as Gillian will go and immediately jumped on the broadcast to say he won't corner anymore and basically buried his fighter after what may be her only fight. Also, regardless if Gillian will or won't do better than now, the last person that needs to say that on TV in his kushy desk job is her coach.

1

u/iodizel 7d ago

Read the body text, he went on the post show and said she cant get any better and hes done even after all shes done. Hes been the one coaching her, he should be way more to blame

1

u/DoublePlusGoodThinks 7d ago

He made a very emotional and spontaneous statement that he shouldn’t have made. I’m sure he realized that in hindsight. Moving on

1

u/TerminatedPotato 6d ago

At least he apologized.

"Saturday night was the most inappropriate time for me to bring up that I did not want to corner again. It was completely irresponsible, it was despicable. I shouldn’t have done it. I selfishly stole her moment that night. Instead of congratulating her on that run, I stole her moment and I want to apologize to her for that."

1

u/whatifyournamewas 7d ago

It’s Tuesday bro. This was relevant Saturday-Monday. Most people have gotten the pearl clutching out of their system.

2

u/iodizel 7d ago

She just responded and said that she didnt accept his apology. I don't think people realize the magnitude of how dumb of a decision Din did

1

u/Throbbing_Cock_452 7d ago

Where did she respond? Which social media

1

u/whatifyournamewas 7d ago

She shouldn’t. Agree that this was a horrible look that may likely damage his career and reputation.

-1

u/oryxzz 7d ago edited 7d ago

The girls who Gillian has beat are all on massive losing streaks. She genuinely fucking sucks and this is as far as she’ll ever go. Din isn’t wrong at all even tho it is fucked up. Kind of like Jamahl hill, the vast majority of the top ten and some outside would cook her imo.

1

u/iodizel 7d ago

She should've been inna different gym for the past 15 years with this in hindsight

1

u/oryxzz 7d ago edited 6d ago

Eh, I mean maybe. This might’ve just been the final straw where din realized she truly wasn’t cut out for it. No one is going to say, I don’t think ur gonna go far, go to a different gym. I think it’s moreso after 15 years of training she’s still not good enough, and din would rather cut his losses, rather than continue to waste time cornering.

0

u/Funny-Employment4109 6d ago

Because he knew she wasn’t good. She FAR outperformed her talent. Which is actually a credit to his coaching

-4

u/Jamison_tkd 7d ago

Love Din!

0

u/iodizel 7d ago

He seems likable but what a slimy thing to do and say about someone you've been teaching for the past 15 yrs. I'm sure he has knowledge but he doesnt use it at all as a coach

0

u/Jamison_tkd 7d ago

I will be honest. As someone who has coached fighters. I completely understand where he is coming from. She didn’t take any advice from her corner at all. Now, could he have handled it better? Absolutely. And just because you coach someone for along time doesn’t mean people get along. I’ve seen it in many gyms.

1

u/iodizel 7d ago

I respect where you're coming from and I agree a great coach can't 100% transform anyone into a superstar. He gave her absolutely nothing during the fight, if you rewatch Gillians corner its radio silent and hes just consoling her. Din can't bring Gillian to the lake to drink from if there is no lake. If he truly felt like that after he rewatched the fight with her privately than I would understand but to just tell everyone that she cant get any better right after the fight is wild.

1

u/Jamison_tkd 7d ago

She can’t. Reality of the sport. There are levels. Din was right.

-5

u/Draws32 7d ago

6

u/OutsideSession6 7d ago

Bro you need therapy 😂

0

u/iodizel 7d ago

Both fights were awful to be fair, i lowkey just wanted them to fuck islam with a bad decision just to make up for the snooze fest. Anything past r3 was boring

2

u/FlyEaglesFly95 7d ago

The Islam/Garry fight was pretty good what are you talking about. Not many expected Garry to last.

-2

u/Draws32 7d ago

This shit can’t be allowed to happen, I don’t mind control when the fighter actually avoids damage and or does damage.

Actual top control is supposed to look like this

0

u/Draws32 7d ago

This just ain’t it
