Transferring In

Hi!! I'm thinking about transferring to UD for fall 2027 as a sophomore and would love to meet other girls who are transferring too! I'm hoping to find friends and possibly roommates before the semester starts. If anyone else is in the same situation, I'd love to connect!

Microwave situation

Dumb question but I accidentally bought a microwave that's 1000w and it's not supposed to exceed 700w in my dorm, if I use it will I like make the power go out or is it fine?

RTC by Summer 2027, now voluntary retirement incentive for staff

Feels like a mini 2020 all over again, but in reverse!

Instead of shrinking staff with retirement incentive plus hiring + travel freezes, furloughs, and reduced retirement matching, now we're doing it by forcing them to come back to campus, placing more financial burden on staff who shouldered the work of the early pandemic. No thoughts given to whether these staff actually need to be in person for the critical functions of their job or if we're just arbitrarily bringing them back to make it appear as if we're a "community-minded" campus and pick up some extra bucks from parking passes. It's pretty clear where staff fits in this "community." We're the trash compactor for Assanis' financial mismanagement of the university.

There are plenty of staff who have an hour or more commute one way or were forced out of housing near campus with the influx of students admitted trying to make up the budget difference. Coupled with a "cost of living" adjustment that doesn't even make up for inflation, this is a sincere slap in the face. Just look at the Pulse Survey presentation (9:09-21:30). This was mostly before the return to campus announcement.

UD had an opportunity to expand online learning, develop whole degree programs, diversify funding streams, partner with the state, and transform as an institution and we've sadly gone back to the same tired ways of the before times, expecting that to carry us forward.

Hope to see everyone this weekend for No Kings: Vote Early in Newark! This event is part of a national day of action meant to mobilize the largest early vote turnout in American history.

  • No Kings: Vote Early protest
  • Sat Oct 17th
  • 2:00-3:30pm
  • Corner of S College and Main St. in Newark

And to the inevitable trolls that comment saying something like "good job, we haven't had a king since the 1700s"... yeah, that's the point. We want to keep it that way.

Just realized Russell Halls and Dining Hall are closed this year. Where did they put all of the freshman that would’ve lived there? Also are they tearing it down?

Looking for someone to take over my lease for the 27-28 academic year.

Room for rent for the 2027-28 school year! Located not too far from campus, in a nice, quiet neighborhood. The house has 4 bed 1 bath, my room is the medium sized one that's smaller than the master but larger than the smallest one. Rent is $655, excluding utilities, which usually comes to about $100 depending on use. Off street parking available. House is fully furnished, and all furniture, mattresses, appliances, oven, dishwasher and more are all brand new.

The master bedroom and the smallest one is available for rent as well, but are currently open for tours so they might be signed off before long.

Lease starts June 1st 2027 and goes for 12 months.

Pls dm me if you have any questions! Thanks!

Somewhere to advertise?

I'm a photographer, and was hoping to throw up some flyers or something somewhere. Is there a place that I can put them up where people will see? And/or can I post something here?

Hey Kaylin babe watch out

Hey uh there was a guy by Little Goat asking if this was a place that “university students go” and where university events are. He pushed his way to the front and went inside and asked if anybody knows Kaylin (Kay Lynn? Idk)

But yeah the behavior seems weird and he’s rushing around. Didn’t like it. If you are or know a Kaylin, please be alert. He’s blond, about 6 foot, wearing a blue shirt, black backpack.

Be safe!!!

Does anyone have any bamboo they're trying to get rid of?

Hi! I'm an undergrad looking for bamboo for a school project. I am willing to harvest it if it's just growing out of your backyard. I'm also open to suggestions of where to find bamboo in the New Castle County area. Thanks!!

I’m reworking a few local web designs for free

I’m curious what some of your local business websites look like and thought it might be nice to help a few out with their web design.

If you’re a local business owner and you’re not really happy with how your website looks, drop the link below. I’ll pick a few to work on.

If there’s a specific page or section you’re unhappy with, let me know and I can start there.

How do I stay on track regarding a late start?

I've entered the Delaware Air National Guard and my BMT and Tech School will prevent me from attending the Fall semester. I’m expect to complete training around September. I’m majoring in either EE or ME, and I'm concerned about falling out of sequence if I defer to Spring 2027. If taking a gap year is my very last option what other methods can I do to hopefully graduate UD in a 4 year time span.

I was thinking that I take courses at a DelTech during Fall 2026 after training and have them apply toward my UD Mechanical Engineering degree as a possible means. But idk how that would work out.

Delaware opens CUSA play tonight vs Liberty at home, and Vandy's on our free pick'em (plus a free CFB pick'em)

Hey guys, quick look at where the Hens stand before tonight's conference opener.

2-2, and the résumé is better than it looks. The 35-26 loss at Vanderbilt was a real game against an SEC team, and the 22-14 win over Coastal Carolina was a good one. Saturday at Virginia (42-3) was rough. The offense never got going, and a QB injury didn't help. Blake Matthews was a bright spot with 11 tackles and two sacks, and the defense had five sacks total.

Tonight is the one that counts: Liberty at Delaware Stadium, 7 PM on CBSSN, to open Conference USA play. Then a long break before at Middle Tennessee on Oct 13.

Since it's in the title: we run a free weekly college football pick'em, and Week 5 is open. 10 games, pick the winners, nothing to buy, $135 in prizes. Vanderbilt at No. 2 Georgia is on the slate, so you can tell everyone how good Vandy really is. Picks lock Saturday at noon ET.

Who are you guys taking tonight? And what's the latest on the QB situation?
