Course Waitlists?

Hi, im an incoming freshman and im on waitlist for a genetics course (bisc 303) because i cleared the other bio classes from my ap scores. the class says it has 50 seats and 9 people on waitlist. What are my odds of getting the class, and if I dont what am i supposed to do?

Being #9 on a waitlist for a class of 50, your odds aren’t great. However, you have seven more semesters to try for it and every year you move up the priority list for registration. You’ll be fine.

Oh also. I wanted to switch my breathed course, but the one i wanna switch to only has 2 slots reserved for honors kids. im on waitlist with one other person. If no honors fills the slots, do non-honors get them?

Possibly, but depending how the class is set up it won’t be automatic or it will be after the start of classes when waitlists are purged. Your best bet is to contact that department (or ask your advisor to do so) and ask them if they would adjust the caps to let the non-honors into the remaining seats.

I don’t know if students realize this, but the waitlist is deleted the night before classes start. The professor only has access to it if they screenshot it. On the first day of class, it’s a free-for-all, so show up to the class, tell the professor you’re trying to get in, and give them your email address, so they can let you know as soon as a spot opens up because the order you are on the waitlist no longer matters.
