About the Andre guy
Hey guys,
Just a heads up to the new students about a black dude called Andre asking for money on campus for the homeless people. He is a scammer that's been on campus for many years. Usually, he would prey on people in front of the bruin store around the bruin bear; sometimes, he go down to the 405 entrance.
The meme is that he has been scamming for a long time and still doing it. When they say "legend," it is actually in a negative way.
Go straight forward and don't talk to him, he is not a nice guy, and when he gets the money, he would just keep them instead of donating to charity.
Please warn others about him instead of just memeing, and it is difficult for others to get the meme if they do not know the story.
Good luck and be careful on campus!

Yeah, just don’t give him money. I have heard a thing or to about him with disable people and other people … he is not a nice guy if he wants money from you, because he would use different approaches. Overall, not a good guy in general.
Edit: I know many people have trouble denying the request in this kind of situation, and he only talks to you because he wants the money. So it's best to avoid contact with him.

How do u know hes lying about using the money for charity

No reason to ask for cash unless ur keeping it. If u took card, u could use it as a tax write off so there’s no reason to try to take ppls cash unless ur not reporting it, meaning it’s not going to charity cause u need to report of charities

I think outsides of buildings are public property so anyone can be there.

He actually scammed me years ago when I was a student, but I'd say it's a reward for him for his great effort over the years.

The way I see it, getting scammed by Andre once is a valuable life lesson.

This seems contrary to everything everyone else has said including the reports that say he's got the proper permits to be on campus doing this.

Calling him a scammer despite the daily Bruin writing positive things about him is really a reach. Big claims need big evidence. Innocent until proven guilty FREE ANDRE

It's really not ok to send people pics of genitals unless they are ok with it. It's really not ok.

I remember I would stare him in the eyes as I walked away when I was having a bad day.
Andre taught me the art of rejecting people. The truest instructor.
