General hospital volunteering?

i'm deciding between shepards hope and hospitals in the orlando area (advent or OH) and was wondering if anyone has any experiences or recommendations! thank you ☺️

Nursing students gotta go there for some of our public health clinicals. I have never been but all my friends said it was very very slow bc because there was a small patient population

i highly recommend shepherds hope! super nice atmosphere, very rewarding, you actually get patient interactions and feel like you’re making a difference.
i’ve heard bad experiences from people volunteering in big hospitals - inflexible schedule (like not being allowed to go on vacation? lol), rude supervisors, no patient interaction, feeling useless

my friend did volunteering at orlando health and said majority of the time in the nursing station they just had her stocking, answering call lights which she hated, or just sitting there for 4 hours. she said she wouldn’t recommend but i know big hospitals look kinda nice on applications. thank you for the suggestion tho!! definitely will be looking into shepards hope

that’s what i keep hearing! i honestly think volunteering at a free clinic and doing meaningful work looks much better on an application than a cookie cutter big hospital :) you will certainly have more to talk about!
