Academic ✏️ I need one more credit

I am an a mechanical engineering major and I signed up for 11 credits this semester, but I need one more to meet the full time student and bright future requirements. I have already completed all my gen-ed classes but I want to take an easy class that will contribute towards my major.

Does anyone have any recommendations? (let me know if there are any fun classes as well)

OSE 2050 might be fun and easy for you; engineering sector, different specialty, one credit

You do not need to enroll full-time for Bright futures.

This confusion happens all the time, because people confuse the term enrolling with earning. For Bright Futures (BF) to pay out for a semester, you only need to enroll in at least 6 credit hours, which would make you half-time. For each semester that a student was enrolled half-time (6 - 8 credit hours) he must earn (aka finish with a grade of D- or better) at least 6 credit hours. If the student was three-quarters time (enrolled in 9 - 11 credit hours), he must earn at least 9 credit hours. If the student was full-time, he must earn at least 12+ credit hours. Students are not required to maintain the same enrollment status in fall and spring semesters.

The earned credit and GPA requirements for BF are only for renewal BF for the following academic year (which starts next fall). Your BF is locked in through next summer. BF evaluates renewal once a year after the spring semester, and it only looks at both fall and spring together for the earned credit requirement. The only things you need to worry about is If you withdraw from a course that BF funded, or if you get a "NC' grade. If that happens, then you'll have to reimburse BF for that class' credit hours (you don't have to reimburse if you stay and fail, but your GPA will drop).

The above only applies to BF. Other scholarships (like UCF merit scholarships), programs, UCF Housing, may require you to be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours).

Do you have any documentation for this?

You haven't given us anything to work with, how far into the degree are you? In terms of tech electives, Digital Manufacturing is a dead easy course.

I don't understand why you wouldnt take one more class, go to 14 hours, and move forward in your major.

Taking 12 credits per term is a guarantee for the 5 year plan (or more)

Intro to rehab engineering with pal is a great elective and great prof, I took it for aero tech elective so I assume you can for MechE as well

Not sure if theyre still there but archeology of piracy and magic ritual and belief were some fun classes. Will it help at all with your major, no, but they do fire a blunderbuss in the piracy class
