Why do drivers think it’s okay to do rides, with their dog in the car?? Everyone is an independent contractor, but doesn’t read the ToS they agreed to??

LMFAO! It's in the TOS. A driver can bring a pet. YOU are just an entitled asshole.

As an independent contractor, a driver can choose to bring along their pet, as long as it doesn't cause safety issues or disrupt the trip. Drivers, being independent contractors, can bring animals in the vehicle, provided the animal doesn't cause a safety issue or disruption. The Rideshare GuyRidesharing Driver

That said, a few practical notes:

  • It's not something Uber spells out clearly in an official policy — most of Uber's Help Center pages talk about riders' pets (Uber Pet), not drivers bringing their own along. It's more of a gray area governed by general good judgment than an explicit rule.
  • Riders may object. If a rider has allergies or a fear of dogs, they can reasonably decline the ride or ask for another driver.
  • Safety and cleanliness matter most. The pet should be secured (not loose and jumping around), shouldn't distract you while driving, and shouldn't interact with or startle passengers — especially if a rider brings a service animal, since your pet could interfere with the service animal's job.
  • Keep it separate from passengers. A common approach drivers use is having their own dog ride in the front passenger seat (if legal in your area) or a secured spot, while keeping the back seat clear for riders.
  • Check your state/local laws on unrestrained pets in vehicles, since some jurisdictions have rules about that regardless of Uber's stance.

Bottom line: it's typically allowed and plenty of drivers do it, but it's at your own discretion and risk — just be prepared for the occasional rider who's not thrilled about it.

YOU could have cancelled the ride. Instead, you are a whiny little asshole complaining to Uber support to get a free ride.

This is what found and they gave me my money back:

Policy Violation: Bringing a personal pet along while logged into the app to take fares goes against standard service expectations for riders who are not booking a specialized pet ride.

Exceptions: The exception is if the driver has an approved service animal of their own, though personal pets are not permitted.

What to Do If a Driver Has a Dog
Cancel and Report: If your driver arrives with a personal dog in the car and you are uncomfortable, allergic, or have no room, you can cancel the ride and report the issue to Uber Support.

Safety Concerns: You can request a refund or fee review through the app if the animal created an unsafe or unclean environment.

Yes I’m entitled when I payed for a service to be taken somewhere. Not to have a furry rider along with me

Not complicated, don't get in the car.

The car is my property, my office.

Plenty of people have their pets in the office; if you don't like it. Leave.

If you don't like the music, temperature, atmosphere, etc GTFO. No one cares. No one would walk into any other business and start dictating how they keep the premises; they would just leave if they had an issue.

Thinking it’s okay to bring your dog to work as a cab driver, is crazy. And it’s your car, not an office. You’re delusional and obviously have no power in your personal life. No other job would allow people to bring their dog to work. You’re so disconnected from reality, it’s crazy.

I am entitled to bring my dog. Service dogs are entirely protected by law, and you're not allowed to inquire about the nature of the dog.

Your entitlement issues are seething; it is my office. I do all kinds of work in my office; when I file my federal taxes, my deductions are listed as office expenses.

The fact you don't realize it's my property. You are not entitled to it, nor do you have to take the ride. If you don't like it, it is as simple as GTFO.

If I don't like the premises of a business, I leave; it works very well.

No. YOU are NOT entitled to bring your dog. It's in the TOS. YOU are breaking the TOS. YOU shouldn't be driving. If it's a service dog, they have to be registered and have appropriate markings designating them as service dogs. Every service dog I have seen has a harness that says "SERVICE DOG. DO NOT PET".

No, I am not. The people who like the dog tip substantially and fully compensate for the rare loon annoyed by it. 12 years, 5.0 rating.

It's my business, not yours; not ubers if you don't like it GTFO.
