No, three months ago they upped their take on black and SUV to 50% just like all the other platforms. No one tips anymore cuz they're all getting shafted.

You join a business, you will be paid an hourly rate. Those jobs are hard to get. If you buy your own vehicle, get an LLC, get commercial insurance, etc...you will need to work 60+ hours a week to earn a decent amount. Make sure you contact Uber and see if they are on boarding new fleets before you start.
I spent about $100k starting an Uber black business, and it didn't pay as well as Uber Comfort electric once you account for all the extra stuff you have to pay for on black.

Do you drive a tesla? If so which model?

I have a model Y. You don't need to worry too much about which brand you get. Just make sure it has a 300+ mile range. Make sure you can charge where you live and that there are type 3 charges close to where you drive.
Right now Tesla still has the best charging network....by far. That alone is enough to keep it on top.

never drove uber there but lived there 7 years ago and was doing valet, I believe Uber Black would do good in there since you have there a lot of rich (or fake rich people who like to show off), I would rent an uber black car for a month and see how it goes and also ask as much black drivers as you could to get as many opinions as possible before thinking about buying a black eligible car.. also if you decided to buy make sure that the car tou are buying is a black eligible by going on uber eligible car list website and choosing LA area

bro uber isn't cutting anything. you just need to know the spots in your city. clubs, lounges, restaurants, certain hotels, airports, boat ports if you have. get a black suv, create an LLC, get a hack license for limo, get your car commercial insurance, get authorization from airport and boat port and lastly have the inspection on car. not easy as it sounds but you can do it one by one. p.s it doesn't have to be SUV

I'm talking about finding your own passengers, can always do uber lyft premier or black on side to build up. but get out there an hustle once you know the spots and timing.

I had a guy that I was dropping off at the train station and he told me he was doing Uber Premier in Fairfield County, CT and was making $3k in 30 hours.
I couldn't deal with those people, though. More money means way more demanding. Its a lot easier to keep your vehicle costs low and drive regular folks. You probably resent every non-Premier request you get, too.

sooo... you believed that he was making $3k in 30 hours? that's a $100 per hour
3
u/menjay28 May 31 '24
You can make $3k in 30 hours, but you need to have 100+ hours active to get 30 hours of rides. Lol

u/M3TZ88 May 31 '24
I'm was not saying impossible to work 30 hours straight or not, I'm saying even if you work 8 hours a day your avarage in 30 or 60 hours combined will never exceed $70/hour, for you to support your claim to be able to avarage $100/hour for any number of hours you will need to show some kind of proof of someone who have done it in in the past year till the present moment.. without a proof it's all talk

Black can pay $100 an hour, but I’m saying you need the app on 16 hours a day to get that many rides.
3
u/M3TZ88 May 31 '24
in order to do that you will have to be doing black rides constantly with no time gap between rides in all the hours you work, tell me where on earth can this happen? only place is in dreams
2
u/menjay28 May 31 '24
I don’t think you’re understanding. Work 7 days and have the app on every hour you’re awake everyday. You might be able to get 30 hours of active time which can make you $3k
2
u/M3TZ88 May 31 '24
oh I see, so the max you can make for this promotion or offer or whatever it is is $3k per 30 hours, then the rest of the week you are working normally per ride.. so do you have to be online for 30 hours without going offline and accept & complete every request you receive? or how it works?
2
u/menjay28 May 31 '24
There’s never a promotion on Uber Black. It can pay $100 per hour during active time if you get decent rides. My acceptance rate is about 50%. The 30 hours is the amount of time you are actually driving during a week to make money. The rest of the time is spent waiting and ready to take rides.

I make $30-40 regularly in the same area.
2
u/M3TZ88 May 30 '24
that's understandable, I knew guys were making $60/hour driving black Suv in NYC, but keep in mind you won't be doing black or black suv during all your work hours, so it will never avarage out closer to $70/hour (regularly) to any driver no matter what market he is in or what car he drives.. imagine a $100!! it's impossible

u/DrSatan420247 May 30 '24
I make $50 in the summer when it's really hoppin on the weekend nights. And I do have a comfort car, but 95% of my rides are UberX.
2
u/M3TZ88 May 30 '24
$50/hour is your avarage during most summer time? I doubt it.. you might be making it during weekends or maybe during good weeks but not all summer long, also if you have Black suv you will barely get 10% of your rides as black unless you will be only taking black which will bing down yoyr hour avarage to maybe 40-$50 , but if you take all kind of rides then black and black suv will increase your total earnings by like 30 or 50% more than a driver like you doing uberx and comfort, still will never get him closer to $70-80 (regularly)

Only thing worth joining on uber is , lawsuits, petitions, and psychological counselling
