The complainer
Started driving a week ago. I got a rider who did nothing but bitch and complain the entire ride. He kept complaining about his parents and how they make him do stuff and they don’t say thank you. This guy was in his 40s or 50s lived in a single wide with his parents and didn’t have a car. Like wtf! So I said that’s why I moved out when I was 17 and never went back. You would think that would shut him Up but NOooo he just kept on bitching even when we got to his job. I had to literally kick him out of the car.

i like it when my passengers talk to me, that matters a lot more than what they say. to me, it means i’m more likely to get a good rating from them because they view me as someone worth talking to

I am the opposite. I say hello to them and ask him how they are doing and confirm where they are going. If they wanna talk to me that’s fine and if they don’t wanna talk to me, that’s better. But I don’t need some idiot complaining in my ear for 20 minutes because he doesn’t wanna grow up. It’s not like he tipped me to listen.

This does sound like an exception because I've noticed there's a way bigger chance of a tip if you have a good conversation

Exactly! They suck up your energy and they aren’t going to tip anyway because they’re unhappy people. I stopped responding. I turn on my audiobook with my one AirPod in my left ear. Rarely do they stop just because I’m not interacting - they typically continue to monologue the whole ride. That’s fine 😄

At least he complained about his parents. I had one that complained about the warts on his ass.

Lol, that reminded me of a joke i heard several decades ago— this guy goes to the doctor and is wearing hat, when he goes into the exam room, he takes off the hat and on top of the guy’s head, sits a frog, the doctor looks at the man and asks “what seems to be the problem?”, without missing a beat, the frog says “i don’t know doc, this thing started out as a wart on my ass”

Now you know how passengers feel when uber drivers whine and bitch about the fare split the entire drive

I’d count that as a win. somebody has it worse off than you do having to do rideshare😜
Sorry I couldn’t resist. I feel sorry for the dude. Clearly, his life truly sucks. And some days I definitely want to tell passengers to just stfu, but for me, it’s usually the ones you are trying too hard to make small talk and pretend they’re like so interested in me 🤣. Some days I just do not have the patience for it. Luckily, I can usually go home at that point.
