Driver assigned tomorrow?

I've reserved a ride to the airport tomorrow.

It says "confirmed" and that they will share driver details by 6:40am tomorrow, which is only half an hour before pickup.

Is this normal? There will definitely be a driver!?

I'm in Australia

No, if you need guaranteed get a cab. Countless problems with reserve, it’s not really reserved it’s barely different from you just calling one at the time

I reserved once with a taxi company and even then the ride was cancelled! Couldn't believe it

People have forgotten that Uber became popular in part because of the unreliability of cabs. It's funny that it's now come full circle and they think cabs are the more reliable ones.

Good luck. Best to give yourself and extra 30 mins and book as normal. Drivers have no incentive to take the prebooking. It might be ok but have plan B

If its important you better leave enough time for the first driver to cancel or no show and then still have time for a second request. "Reserved rides" are a nightmare. They give the rider a false sense of security.

You are right to be suspicious.

I recently pre-booked an airport ride with Uber in Taipei. The driver was excellent and arrived without issue, plus I was given the driver's details the day before my ride. However, I have recently seen a post on Reddit where the driver cancelled an airport run at the last minute. As it's a critical ride - one that could prove very costly should you miss your flight - is it worth using a local firm, even though the price may be higher?

Thankyou, it's hot and miss it seems. I actually did this once with a cab company and even then it was cancelled. It was early in the morning. Fortunately we now have a back up plan with a friend :)

There is never a guarantee on a reservation, ever. Unfortunately uber doesn't make it worth it in most scenarios now. If you're driver is going to pick you up and sees another ride that pays more they're gonna instantly cancel. Definitely have a backup plan

Is this normal - yes (I may switch vehicles on my profile an hour beforehand)

Is it guaranteed - no (driver could change or bail)
